The Florida Holocaust Museum (The FHM) honors the memory of millions of innocent men, women and children who suffered or died in the Holocaust. One of the largest Holocaust museums in the country, The FHM is dedicated to teaching members of all races and cultures to recognize the inherent worth and dignity of human life to prevent future genocides. One of only three American Alliance of Museum (AAM) accredited Holocaust museums, The FHM boasts an outstanding collection of contemporary visual art as well as the largest Holocaust research library in the Southeastern United States. Its permanent exhibition highlights the artifacts, photographs, documents and testimonies of Holocaust Survivors and Liberators who came to settle in Florida. We are hiring a full-time Facilities Coordinator to play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the Museum, the Collections, Preservation, Research and Education (CPRE) facility, and the Administrative Offices. This hands-on position supports day-to-day operations by performing routine maintenance tasks, preparing spaces for events, and ensuring that facilities are welcoming, well-stocked, and in working order. The ideal candidate is reliable, proactive, and capable of performing physical tasks safely and efficiently, with the ability to work independently and respond to facility needs as they arise.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain the interior and exterior of the Museum and CPRE to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly environment. Set up and break down chairs, tables, and other equipment for meetings, events, and programs. Perform minor maintenance and repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry (e.g., fixing door handles, changing light bulbs, patching walls, painting, etc.). Access roofs and climb ladders as needed to inspect or maintain facilities. Monitor, clean, and restock restrooms and breakrooms throughout the day to support staff and visitors. Assist housekeeping staff with access to supply closets and cleaning equipment. Ensure First Aid Stations are stocked and AED units are properly charged. Perform weekly cleaning of the CPRE facility and assist with exterior upkeep, including regular watering of landscaping. Ensure landscaping around the museum and on the Terrace are watered and maintained. Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors for facility maintenance and repairs, ensuring access and supervision as needed. Order/purchase cleaning, shop and breakroom supplies. Monitor and maintain chemical safety data sheets (SDS) in accordance with safety standards. Report any safety hazards, facility concerns, or low supply levels to supervisor in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the facilities team and overall Museum operations.QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 2-3 years of general maintenance or facilities experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Must pass a background check. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel between all assigned locations. Experience in a cultural, educational, or nonprofit setting a plus. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per shift). Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead as needed to perform maintenance tasks. Ability to safely operate hand tools, ladders, and light maintenance equipment. Ability to climb stairs and ladders to access roofs, fixtures, or elevated workspaces. Ability to lift, push, pull, or move furniture and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted. Visual acuity sufficient to perform inspections and basic repairs. Auditory ability to hear alarms, equipment sounds, or verbal instructions in both quiet and noisy environments. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including heat, rain, and humidity.
