Position Overview The Fish and Wildlife Research Institute is seeking an experienced Facilities Management Supervisor to oversee facilities operations for FWRI headquarters and statewide field locations. This position is headquartered in St. Petersburg and is responsible for managing approximately 132,000 square feet of facilities space, along with field offices throughout Florida. The position requires statewide travel, occasional work exceeding 40 hours per week, and availability after hours to respond to facility emergencies when needed. The successful candidate will lead facility maintenance, custodial operations, capital improvement planning, contractor oversight, budgeting, safety compliance, and operational support for FWRI programs across the state. Minimum Qualifications Five or more years of commercial or public-sector facilities management experience Minimum of two years in a supervisory role Valid driver's license Availability for after-hours call-backs, including nights, weekends, and state holidays as needed Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or facilities management Professional certification in Facilities Management Experience managing large, multi-use facilities Construction project management experience Experience using building automation systems Familiarity with State of Florida procurement rules and accounting procedures Key Responsibilities Develop and review capital improvement plans for FWRI facilities Prepare and manage bids and contracts for outsourced maintenance services Monitor compliance with state and FWC regulations and procedures Prepare and oversee the Facility Management operating budget Supervise facilities maintenance and custodial operations Oversee facilities staff, contractors, and vendors Coordinate with FWRI leadership and field laboratories to assess operational needs Manage building maintenance, repair, renovation, construction, security, and safety programs Support the development of internal facilities policies and procedures Maintain a professional and collaborative work environment Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in: Building facility operations and maintenance Groundskeeping, custodial services, and safety practices Construction, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical systems Building automation systems Fire safety and OSHA regulations Budget preparation and contract administration Supervisory and team leadership practices Technical writing and project management Candidates should demonstrate the ability to: Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate work effectively Manage budgets and operational priorities Develop maintenance policies and procedures Analyze information and develop recommendations Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Build productive working relationships with staff, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders Use Microsoft Office applications proficiently Travel as needed throughout Florida Additional Requirements Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory fingerprint-based criminal history check in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
