Job Title:
Maintenance Coordinator Gordon County Community Events Center FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt Reports To Director, Community Events Center Position Summary The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the Gordon County Community Events Center (CEC) facilities, including the conference center, outdoor arena, and surrounding grounds, are safe, functional, clean, and event-ready at all times. This position plays a critical role in supporting a wide variety of events, including conferences, trade shows, agricultural exhibitions, equestrian events, concerts, and community festivals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Prepare indoor and outdoor spaces for scheduled events, including setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, staging, and equipment. Maintain arena grounds, including grading, watering, and general surface preparation for equestrian and agricultural events. Conduct pre-event and post-event facility checks to ensure safety, cleanliness, and readiness. Assist with coordination of event logistics including vendor setup, electrical access, and equipment placement. Monitor and maintain facility systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and sanitation systems. Ensure restrooms, common areas, and event spaces are properly cleaned and stocked. Identify maintenance issues proactively and perform timely repairs to prevent disruptions. Support back-to-back event transitions with efficient turnaround of facilities. Assist with parking logistics, crowd flow setup, and general event operations as needed. Follow all safety protocols and assist in maintaining a safe environment for staff, vendors, and guests. Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment. Operate maintenance equipment such as tractors, utility vehicles, mowers, and hand tools. Coordinate with the Director on maintenance schedules and event preparation timelines. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of general facility maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping and maintenance equipment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Effective communication skills and a customer-service-oriented mindset. Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (50+ lbs) and work in indoor and outdoor environments. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience in facility maintenance, groundskeeping, or related fields preferred. Valid Georgia driver's license. Experience with event setup or large venue operations is a plus. Working Conditions Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating equipment for extended periods. The schedule will vary based on the event calendar and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
