Assisted Living Universal Worker Job Description Full Time 6a-2p
Supervisor:
Assisted Living Director Qualifications:
Employment standards for this facility are consistent with EEOC for all people applying for or holding this position.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Training:
Seventy-five (75) hour Nursing Assistant course with State of Iowa Certification. Certification as a Medication Aide in the State of Iowa is highly encouraged. Must also participate in on-going continuing education.
Essential Functions:
Assist tenants with aspects of daily living as determined by the service plan. Provide reminders to tenants as determined by the service plan. Perform or assist tenants with basic services such as light housekeeping and laundering of bed linens. Perform assurance checks to ensure tenant safety. Report tenant's physical or mental changes and requests to the Assisted Living Director and/or Director of Nursing of the host skilled nursing facility. Promote and coordinate activities for tenant social interaction Follow Tenant Rights and or Resident Rights policies at all times. Know and follow each tenant's individualized service plan. Handle all tenant information in a confidential manner. Prepare dining room, serve food, and clean up dining room after mealtime. Perform cleaning procedures to all common areas in accordance with facility policy. Observe waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy. Assist with monthly or quarterly level of functioning assessments. Assume accountability for all information contained in the Employee Personnel Handbook and all Policy and Procedure Manuals. Accept and perform additional duties as assigned by your department head or Administrator in a cooperative manner. Observe all facility safety policies and procedures including working responsibly to ensure personal safety. Come to work in a clean, neat uniform, and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance. Come to worked as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and responsibility. Respond to all emergency call and alarms in accordance with facility policy. Participate in all in-service education as required. Must be able to work independently without direct supervision. Have the ability to be innovative and creative to support psychosocial needs of tenants. An individual in this position may be exposed to Bloodborne Pathogens. Comprehend and follow all OSHA, State, and Federal policies and regulations. The physical activities of this position involve crouching, fingering, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, and stopping. An individual in this position will be requires to carry or lift weights of 50 to 75 pounds and sometimes more with assistance. An individual in this position will be expected to use, assist, and demonstrate devices for handling and lifting residents. The sensory and communicative activities essential to the performance of this position include: hearing, seeing, smelling, speaking, reading, and writing. An individual in this position will be exposed to: inside environmental conditions, and physical, chemical, or respiratory hazards. #hc227764
