Job Description

Are you a skilled engineering professional who excels at leading multi-disciplinary projects, managing skilled trades, and optimizing heavy manufacturing plant infrastructure? As Cerebral Staffing , we are seeking a highly capable Facilities Engineering Project Manager to join our team supporting our client, John Deere , at their Tractor Operations facility in Waterloo, IA . Facilities Engineering Project Manager - John Deere Tractor Operations This is a high-visibility, capital-impact 2+ year contract opportunity paying up to $46/hr , including 2 weeks of PTO . Operating 100% onsite in a dynamic shop-floor environment, you will deliver comprehensive engineering and project management services to modify and upgrade facility infrastructure, production machinery, and ground processes.
Position Details & Compensation Pay Rate:
Up to $46/hr (W2).
Location:
100% Onsite at Waterloo Works Tractor Operations (Waterloo, IA). Midwest-based candidates are strongly preferred.
Duration:
2+ Years.
Shift:
1st Shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM); occasionally requires flexing until 5:00 PM a few times a month based on project needs.
Benefits:

Environment:
Shop floor position requiring you to spend roughly 75% of your shift active on your feet and capable of lifting up to 30 lbs.
Safety Gear:
Metatarsal safety boots are required on Day 1 .

Core Responsibilities Project Management & Design:
Plan, coordinate, and execute facilities and maintenance projects of moderate scope. Provide engineering design for plant infrastructure, grounds, and manufacturing equipment using internal and external resources across engineering disciplines.
Contractor & Trade Oversight:
Assign, coordinate, and review the daily work of support staff and third-party contractors. Manage competitive sourcing, research the vendor market, and negotiate contracts for materials, maintenance, and new construction.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
Perform complete building code, life, and safety analysis. Authorize hot work requests, run red tag reviews, and proactively identify/resolve potential environmental, ergonomic, and safety hazards in alignment with OSHA standards.
Specialized System Infrastructure:
Direct execution with a heavy emphasis on Emergency Notification Systems (ENS), FM Global Insurance coordination, non-mobile material handling equipment, and cross-functional I.T./network project integration.
Intra-Facility Mobility:
Drive an indoor, John Deere-owned Gator vehicle within the connected factory to transport computers, parts, or tools between office quadrants. (Deere safety training will be provided upon hire).
Local Travel:
Use your personal vehicle for occasional travel to alternative local facilities within a 20-mile radius as project parameters dictate (no rental cars utilized).
Required Skills & Experience Contractor Management:
5+ years of verified experience coordinating multiple skilled trades and industrial contractors to achieve stringent project deadlines.
Infrastructure Background:
3+ years of technical experience with building infrastructure systems (mechanical, electrical, and structural systems).
Manufacturing Foundations:
3+ years applying core engineering principles directly within heavy manufacturing operations, maintenance engineering, or operations supervision.
Safety & Communication:
Deep working knowledge of OSHA safety standards combined with the professional presence to communicate project milestones with middle management.
Organizational Agility:
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple active, multi-disciplined projects simultaneously under minimal direct supervision.
