The Facilities Department is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of CPS schools, modular buildings, annexes, and administrative offices. The department ensures that the district's schools and facilities are clean, safe, heated and cooled, and dry. Job Summary:
Under the direction of Staffing Manager, the Staffing Specialist will be responsible for the processing of transactions related to staffing, including recruitment, temporary staffing, transfers, discipline, and working with union representatives, as well as over 1200 custodial staff, providing support in responding to routine inquiries and employee concerns, and assisting the department in overall staffing operations. The Staffing Specialist will be held accountable for the following responsibilities: Assist Staffing Manager with the discipline and grievance process for union employees, scheduling meetings and hearings related to discipline, grievance, and investigations as well as representing the department at these, if needed. Addressing employee concerns related to staffing at sites, verifying employee hours, and approving overtime while using relevant industry and department benchmarks. Assisting with the hiring process by reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting phone screens, and processing paperwork. Responding to routine inquiries related to policies and procedures, payroll, bid process, and other employment-related matters. Support training activities during professional development days and new hire orientation.
