Position Overview The Department of Agriculture seeks an experienced facility manager for the position of Illinois State Fair Facilities Manager. This position is an integral part of the team that provides the day-to -day operation and maintenance of all facility management functions on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. This position supervises trades and buildings & grounds professionals. We encourage qualified applicants to apply today.
Essential Functions Serves as the Illinois State Fair Facilities Manager.
Serves as full line supervisor.
Assists the Bureau Chief in developing the annual budget Illinois State Fairgrounds.
Assists the Bureau Chief with procurement of facility services and supplies.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration, management, facilities management or a related field.
Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in public or business organization, preferably in supervisory and management or a related field
Preferred Qualifications Prefers two or more years' experience with facilities management, including maintenance and repair of buildings, preventative maintenance programs, grounds keeping services, janitorial services, racetrack maintenance, livestock facility maintenance, security services and systems, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC repair and maintenance and the property control function for the facility, identifying and reporting on currently utilized and surplus property.
Prefers two or more years' experience interpreting and implementing collective bargaining agreements.
Prefers one or more years of professional experience supervising staff, including training and completing performance evaluations.
Prefers experience estimating and budgeting for future needs and cost of space, equipment, supplies and services related to facility management.
Conditions of Employment Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate, valid driver's license. Overnight travel may be required.
Requires completion of a name-based background screening and self-disclosure of criminal history.
This position is considered light work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(b)). Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. This job may require a good deal of walking or standing or involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls
Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
