Stone Soup Café (SSC) is a 501 (c) (3) organization serving the residents of Franklin County from our location at the All Souls Church in downtown Greenfield. It is the mission of Stone Soup Café: "To create community space where all are welcome to share nourishment, connection, and learning for body, mind, and spirit." The two central programs at Stone Soup are our Pay What You Can Saturday Meal and Everybody's Community Store. All staff must conduct themselves professionally and work to support the Café's mission, vision, and values.

Job Summary :
To maintain our facilities & support the Saturday Meals, Everybody's Community Store, and Events at Stone Soup Café This position reports to the Executive Director and/or Chef and collaborates with other staff as needed to maintain the facilities and follow sanitation protocols, inventory ordering and restocking, and support events as needed. It is the role of the Facilities and Program Support staff person to collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community members, representing the organization and its mission, values, and agreements at all times.
Requirements:
Physical Stamina:
need to be able to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods, and may need to lift and move heavy objects up to 60 pounds.
Cleaning Skills:
knowledge of various cleaning methods, techniques, and materials is essential, including experience with different types of cleaning equipment
Safety Knowledge:
understanding and following safety procedures, especially when handling cleaning chemicals and equipment, is crucial. Attention to
Detail:
need to be observant and thorough, ensuring that all areas are cleaned to a high standard.
Communication Skills:
Excellent communication skills are essential to interacting with staff, volunteers, community members, or other occupants of the building. Ability to follow instructions Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Organizational Skills:
the ability to organize; cleaning supplies, foodstuffs, and equipment efficiently is important. Commitment to environmentally sensitive practices, e.g., composting, recycling, non-toxic cleaning materials (whenever possible) All job-related tasks below are expected to be performed every week unless otherwise specified. Weekly completion of the task list is submitted to the supervisor. Custodial Recycling Gathering and sorting items into the proper bins on Fridays and Saturdays Weekly placement of bins for collection by the DPW on Wednesdays Weekly returning bins to their designated spots after DPW collection on
Thursdays Compost Fridays and Saturdays:
Ensure that all matter is placed in the correct bins (worm vs. non-worm) Weekly Washing of compost buckets after meal service on Saturday Sanitation Weekly Garbage removal Weekly Floor sweeping and mopping in all public & storage areas, including restrooms, landings, hallways, entrances, ramps, and stairs Weekly restroom cleaning Weekly Vacuuming of rugs Periodic deep cleaning of the facility as arranged with the supervisor Make recommendations for projects and upgrades needed in the facility Facilities Supplies Weekly on Friday
  • Ordering requests for restocking and/or new items needed to ED or EC in writing Unpacking and restocking supplies on Fridays or midweek as requested Regularly organize supply rooms Ensuring proper storage of all goods in a sanitary manner Communicating with appropriate staff about supply organization, proper storage procedures, and policies Programs Meals Program
  • Friday Support Dishwashing & Cleaning of refrigerators Aid in the storage of foodstuffs Help with prep Set up space for prep Lead volunteers for 6:30 to 7:30 power hour shift with cleaning support Meals Program
  • Saturday Dishwashing & Cleaning of Surfaces Sanitizing food trays Support with meal prep and service as needed Lead volunteers in Saturday 2:30 to 4 pm cleaning shift Resetting the room, and setting up space for events Everybody's Community Store
  • Friday Support Recycling Aid in the storage of foodstuffs Support with prep as needed Everybody's Community Store
  • Saturday Support Aid with breakdown at the end of service Help with the ECS outdoor setup as needed Support with ECS during service as needed Set up a drink station for the hospitality tent Events As needed
  • Collaborates with administrative staff to ensure successful preparation of supplies and equipment for events, event setup and takedown, recycling, and trash Meetings Weekly Operations Team on Thursday and Preservice Shift meeting on Friday Staff Meetings and training (as held)
Pay:
$22.25 per hour
