Job Description
Facilities Manager
Description The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Hercules Fence's exterior material yard and interior shop. This role is highly hands-on and requires a team-oriented mindset, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to do whatever is necessary to support field operations, shop production, and company processes. The Facilities Manager works closely with the Director of Operations to ensure efficient use of labor, materials, equipment, and facilities while maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized work environment.
Organize, clean, and maintain all shop and yard areas to company standards.
Prepare for next-day activities, including loading and unloading house crews and subcontractor crews.
Accept, inspect, and document all material deliveries; report discrepancies or damages.
Oversee shop welders and gate fabrication operations.
Personnel ManagementWork in tandem with the Director of Operations to manage shop and yard employees.
Participate in the hiring, training, mentoring, discipline, and termination of shop and yard personnel as required.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and adnce to Hercules Fence policies and procedures.
Inventory & PurchasingMaintain accurate material inventory records using Smartsheets.
Purchase stock materials and assist Project Managers with project-specific material orders.
Update and maintain the Purchase Order Smartsheets in coordination with the Administrative Assistant.
Manage shop tool inventory, including tracking, repair, and replacement of damaged tools.
Facilities & Equipment ManagementMaintain interior and exterior facilities, including coordination of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general repairs.
Manage the Hercules Fence fleet of vehicles and equipment, including routine maintenance, repairs, and documentation.
Ensure DOT compliance for applicable vehicles and equipment, including coordination of annual DOT inspections.
Budgeting & PlanningAssist in developing and managing the annual shop and facilities budget.
Purchase materials and services required for shop and yard maintenance in accordance with the approved budget.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and control costs.
Core ExpectationsLead by example with a strong work ethic and team-first mentality.
Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
Support field operations by ensuring crews have the materials, tools, and equipment they need-on time and ready to go.
Be a respectful liaison for Hercules; professionally communicate with the customer's field and office representatives and manage their expectations.
