Job Description
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
Supervise facilities personnel including interviewing, hiring, training, developing employees, directing work assignments, conducting performance appraisals, and addressing employee concerns in accordance with organizational policiesDevelop and implement long-term strategic plans for construction, renovation, and facility acquisitions to support business needs, including growth metrics development and regular collaboration with peers and decision makersEstablish, manage, and oversee the facilities department budget while ensuring appropriate resources are in place for project engineering, capital project delivery, and facilities management operationsOversee facility utilities, physical plant operations, HVAC distribution, support services, grounds, and custodial functions to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellenceDirect and approve facility expansion and renovation plans (including laboratory, animal holding, quarantine, and administrative facilities) in coordination with general manager and senior leadership team, including processing permits and government applicationsEvaluate, select, and manage contractors and vendors for outside services; negotiate contracts for building and engineering design services; approve final work sign-offVerify schedule compliance for all facility expansion, renovation, and maintenance projects while providing leadership and vision to direct reports for continuous departmental improvementPhysical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule including evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and extra shifts, sometimes on short noticeAbility to work under specific time constraintsRequired Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED with 10+ years of relevant facilities management experienceMinimum 5 years in a people leader/supervisory role, preferably managing multiple teamsDemonstrated knowledge of site facilities and vendor management, GxPs (Good Practice guidelines), and industry guidance documentsAbility to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organizationComputer skills commensurate with essential duties and responsibilities, including the ability to learn validated systemsDemonstrated ability to problem solve, make quick decisions, communicate decisions effectively, and lead/manage staff in a growing, changing environmentKnowledge of standard business and accounting practicesPreferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, construction management with 8+ years of relevant experienceContract research organization (CRO) experiencePlant Engineering and/or Building trades licenseBasic familiarity with Microsoft Office SuiteExperience in laboratory, pharmaceutical, or regulated research environmentsExperience managing facility expansion and renovation projects in compliance-driven industries This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
