Job Description

Facility Supervisor - Job Description Position Summary The Facility Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, safety, and efficiency of the Shakopee facility. This role oversees capital projects, vendor management, space planning, safety programs, business continuity, and facility-related purchasing. The Facility Supervisor ensures a high‑quality working environment that supports R D operations and aligns with corporate standards, financial requirements, and regulatory obligations. Facility Operations & Maintenance
  • Oversee day‑to‑day facility operations, including building systems, HVAC, maintenance activities, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure adequate maintenance coverage, coordinating backup and on-call support.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and readiness for customer visits, audits, and lab tours in collaboration with Lab Managers. Project & Space Management
  • Lead facility improvement projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
  • Coordinate internal relocations, equipment transfers, and space allocation initiatives including large‑scale lab equipment moves. Purchasing & Budgeting
  • Administer indirect purchasing for the facility, including navigating purchasing systems and approval processes.
  • Guide internal teams through procurement workflows and ensure compliance with purchasing thresholds and documentation requirements.
  • Develop, manage, and submit annual facility budgets on schedule. Vendor & Contract Management
  • Oversee facility-related vendor contracts, ensuring alignment with corporate requirements and timely communication of changes.
  • Conduct performance oversight for facilities partners and service providers. Safety & Compliance
  • Lead safety initiatives, including conducting monthly Manager Safety Meetings and supporting development and tracking of annual safety goals.
  • Partner with Corporate Safety to develop procedures meeting all internal compliance requirements.
  • Co‑chair the Employee Safety Committee and address internal audit findings.
  • Chair the Emergency Response Team and ensure completion of required emergency drills and completion of biennial First Aid/CPR/AED certification training. Business Continuity
  • Serve as the Business Continuity Coordinator for the Facility, ensuring Crisis Management Plan and Business Continuity Plans are up to date.
  • Lead quarterly Crisis Management Team meetings and complete assigned action items from the Business Continuity system or as assigned by Corporate Business Continuity. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Provide facility support to R D teams, Lab Managers, and Corporate groups.
  • Facilitate lab tours for customer groups ensuring safety and presentation standards.
  • Coordinate with landlords, corporate functions, and cross‑functional internal teams. Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Will consider individuals with 7-10 years of supervisory experience in a facility, building system or related role who do not hold a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in facility management, building systems, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of vendor management, preventive maintenance systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with procurement systems and budget management.
