Job Description
We are a growing Oregon cannabis cultivation operation seeking a hands-on Cultivation Facility Manager. This position is responsible for leading day-to-day cultivation operations, supporting the cultivation team, maintaining facility systems, ensuring adherence to SOPs and standards, and helping keep the facility productive, organized, compliant, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities The cultivation manager position is responsible for the following at the Eugene facility:
- Ensure the daily, weekly, and monthly tasks are completed per schedule
- Be a positive leader and manager for the cultivation team members
- Be the responsible person for the operation, for simple but critical tasks such as daily opening and closing, responding to issues like a leak, a breaker that tripped, or a temperature alarm going off
- Execution of the SOPs and Standards of the facility and company
- Perform certain cultivation tasks as defined by the schedule, and as needed with absences
- Train and coach new and existing cultivation team members
- Monitor and maintain the irrigation, environment, and facility systems and equipment
- Troubleshoot and fix systems and equipment
- Ensure a clean, organized, and efficient work environment is maintained
- Monitor plant health and environmental variables including: PAR, temperature, humidity, VPD, air movement, media water content, pH, mineral nutrition, and pest pressure. - Daily opening by 7:55 am
- Daily closing and lockup after the last employee is gone
- When there are contractors or outside labor on site, returning to lock up when they are gone
- Responding to alarm and equipment issues outside of 8-5 standard employee hours
- Being on site and productive five days a week from 8-5. This is onsite work, there is no work from home and no discretionary attendance periods.
- Coming in earlier than 7:55 as necessary
- This is sometimes necessary on bucking days, harvest days, repop days, 3 out of the 10 days of the two week repeating schedule, if the setup work was not completed the previous day
- Opening early for contractors as occasionally necessary
- Weekend walk through and watering clones every other weekend
- Hands on involvement is expected Human Resources
- Complete human resources tasks as directed by the HR department Leadership and Management
- Be a good and respectful leader for the team
- Maintain a positive work environment and good morale
- Represent the company well in relationships with vendors and contractors
- Zero tolerance of substance use during work hours. Among other items per Employee Handbook there is no getting high at work or for work. We wish to hire someone that this does not pose an inconvenience for.
- Professionalism of appearance: There is a dress code, and the manager is expected to lead in appearance via grooming, keeping their office desk area pristine, weekly car washes, etc. as defined by the company culture standards. Environment Control
- Monitor the environments of the facility
- Operate the systems to keep environments inside of specification
- Respond inside standard time windows to out of spec rooms
- Quickly learning and achieving proficiency with Munters Greenet Rivulis climate controllers interface Irrigation and Irrigation Systems
- Monitor the irrigation systems of the facility
- Operate the systems to keep rootzones in spec
- Respond inside standard time windows to out of spec rooms Scheduling and Planning Support scheduling and planning to ensure facility work is completed according to the two week repeating schedule and operational needs. Pest and Disease Management
- If all the cultivators are out for some reason, and it is not a holiday, and it is a spray day, this position will need to do the IPM spray so it happens.
- Employees performing pesticide, IPM, or related plant treatment work must complete any required company safety training, Worker Protection Standard training, PPE training, and any other training required by applicable law or company policy before performing covered tasks. Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Repairs, and Operation Use a multi meter to troubleshoot:
- Open Sprinkler controller, and irrigation valves
- Climate controller 24v and dry contact relays
- Dehumidifier and AC power and control signal supply
- Power and signal across various relays and contactors Proficiency with:
RJ11/RJ12/RJ45
control lines, installation, troubleshooting, and repair- Low voltage control lines, installation, troubleshooting, and repair
- PEX and offbrand PEX style plumbing
- PVC Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 piping and connections
- High pressure mister lines and fittings
- CO2 regulators and supply lines
- Ability to safely work from ladders and at heights, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Environment sensors and meter, all models, portable and fixed, temperature, humidity, CO2, PPFD, etc.
- Open Sprinkler, Trolmaster, Growlink
- Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair these industry common control systems under the pressure and timeline of a non functioning room
- Identifying the category name of every component in a network room Cleaning and Organizing Ensure the facility, work areas, cultivation spaces, tools, and shared areas are maintained in a clean, organized, safe, and efficient condition. Checklists and Leader Standard Works
- Perform the daily leader standard work of the facility, every day
- Complete the daily control sheet for the facility, every day Purchasing and Supply Management Support purchasing and supply management as needed to ensure required materials, supplies, and equipment are available for scheduled work and facility operations.
- Weighing and hanging plants on harvest day once every two weeks, this allows the room to be harvested and cleaned in the same day
- Hands on for repop day of moving plants into the flower room and keeping the strains separate and directing the layout and workflow
- Making clones and being hands on when they are transplanted to the veg room
- Topping teens and topping plants in the flower room
- Deleafing of plants along side the cultivators and labor crews enough to provide an example of how it should be done and to adjust the pace to complete the task in the allotted time
- Removing lowers along side the cultivators and labor crews enough to provide an example of how it should be done and to adjust the pace to complete the task in the allotted time
- Assistance with spreading plants
- Work as required to complete the day's scheduled tasks Post Harvest Support post-harvest work as needed to keep the facility schedule on track and ensure product is handled according to SOPs, compliance requirements, and company standards. METRC There is approximately 2 hours worth of Metrc work every two weeks, but maybe more, to be done by this position. Reporting
- Reporting requirements will vary, but be prepared to daily report to the cultivation director, executives, and colleagues. The reporting will include pictures, write ups, check sheets, and may be required over email, WhatsApp, Signal, Google Workspace, or text.
- It is necessary to be proficient with the use of spreadsheets, Google Workspace, Google Forms, and QR codes.
- This position is responsible to respond to out of spec environment and irrigation conditions or other building alarms over the weekend.
- Every other weekend clones need to be watered Saturday and Sunday.
- You may need to occasionally let in contractors and lock up after them on weekends.
- The stock tanks may need to be swapped on the weekend.
- When a cultivation director is in town they will take care of the above items on the weekends they are there if you wish.
- Most likely you can request someone to cover you on days you need off, but it is not guaranteed for any particular day. Miscellaneous
- There is no taking home any product of any kind from work: no plants of any size, no flower, no equipment, no tools or parts. The only exception is a laptop and notebooks.
- The company maintains strict compliance, inventory control, diversion prevention, and workplace conduct standards. On-site consumption, impairment, unauthorized possession, diversion, or removal of cannabis product, plants, equipment, tools, or company property is prohibited. Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have a valid Oregon OLCC Marijuana Worker Permit, or be able to obtain one before performing work on licensed premises.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to work full-time onsite in Eugene, Oregon.
- Must be able to work the schedule requirements of the role, including early mornings, occasional evenings, emergency response needs, and every other weekend clone watering responsibilities.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to comply with company SOPs, safety policies, cannabis compliance requirements, METRC requirements, and workplace conduct standards.
- Must be able to complete any required safety, equipment, pesticide/IPM, PPE, and compliance training before performing covered work.
- Any offer of employment may be contingent upon verification of work authorization, verification of OLCC Marijuana Worker Permit eligibility or status, and completion of any lawful post-offer background check or compliance review required by company policy or applicable law.
- The company will conduct any background check or criminal history review in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local law. Applicants should not disclose criminal history unless and until requested at the appropriate stage of the hiring process.
