Facilities Manager

Position Summary Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church is seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee the care, maintenance, safety, and appearance of church and preschool facilities and grounds. This position ensures that buildings, systems, and outdoor spaces are safe, functional, welcoming, and supportive of worship, ministry, and community use. The Facilities Manager works collaboratively with church leadership, staff, Trustees, and external vendors to faithfully steward church property. Key Responsibilities  Oversee day-to-day maintenance of all church and preschool buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and security systems  Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns  Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules for building systems and equipment  Ensure facilities are clean, orderly, and prepared for worship services, programs, and events  Plan, coordinate, and oversee facility improvement and repair projects  Develop project scopes, timelines, and cost estimates  Solicit bids and manage contractors and service providers  Oversee landscaping, lawn care, irrigation, drainage, and exterior upkeep  Manage seasonal needs including, but not limited to storm preparation and post-storm recovery  Maintain preschool facilities in compliance with licensing, health, and safety standards  Ensure compliance with local, state, insurance, and fire safety requirements  Manage vendor relationships and track facility-related expenses within approved budgets  Communicate facility needs, timelines, and issues clearly with staff, Trustees, and leadership  Attend staff meetings and monthly Trustee's meetings as required. Qualifications Required  Experience in facilities management, building maintenance, construction, or a related field  Working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and security  Basic to intermediate computer skills, including email, calendars, word processing, and spreadsheets  Ability to use or learn facility-related software, vendor portals, and online work-order systems  Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills  Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently  Reliable transportation and valid driver's license Preferred  Experience in a church, school, or nonprofit setting  Knowledge of coastal building considerations and storm preparedness  Supervisory or project management experience  Familiarity with vendor contracting, invoicing, and budget tracking software Application Instructions Interested candidates should submit a resume to: Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church 803 West Kitty Hawk Road Kitty Hawk, NC 27949 AXAANGE801@gmail.com
