Facilities and Properties Director Salary $143,312.00 Annually Location Lincoln, NE Job Type Full time/probationary or status Job Number 202600251 Department Property Management Opening Date 04/28/2026 Closing Date 5/12/2026 11:59 PM Central Description Benefits Questions Job Posting Information Position Overview We are seeking a strategic and experienced leader to serve as Facilities and Properties Director. This executive-level role provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight for a diverse portfolio of County and City-owned facilities. Reporting to both the Public Building Commission and County Board, this position is responsible for the comprehensive management, preservation, and optimization of public assets. The Director ensures facilities are maintained to the highest standards while aligning property management strategies with organizational priorities, fiscal stewardship, and long-term community needs. This is an appointed, high-impact leadership role with significant responsibility for results, policy implementation, and operational excellence.

8% employee + 8% County match Paid parental leave: up to 6 weeks usable within 12 months after birth/adoption/foster placement Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Asset Management Provide executive oversight of all assigned County and City properties, ensuring safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities Develop and implement long-term property management strategies, including asset optimization and lifecycle planning Evaluate property portfolios to identify surplus assets and strategic opportunities Operations & Facilities Management Direct all aspects of facility operations, including maintenance, repair, custodial services, and capital improvements Establish and oversee preventative maintenance programs to protect asset value and reduce long-term costs Lead renovation and construction initiatives, collaborating with architectural and engineering partners from design through completion Financial & Contract Management Develop and manage departmental and Public Building Commission budgets, ensuring responsible fiscal oversight Establish rental rates, negotiate lease agreements, and oversee all property-related revenue and expenditures Procure goods and services, negotiate contracts, and ensure effective vendor performance Real Estate & Development Oversee acquisition, leasing, and disposition activities, including securing and evaluating real estate appraisals Negotiate complex lease agreements and ensure alignment with legal and market standards Governance & Stakeholder Engagement Serve as a trusted advisor to the Public Building Commission and County Board on policy, operations, and capital planning Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and briefings to support informed decision-making Direct the development of meeting materials and ensure leadership is informed of key issues and opportunities Represent the organization in public forums, hearings, and stakeholder engagements Project & Compliance Oversight Lead public improvement initiatives, including cost analysis, environmental considerations, and regulatory compliance Ensure all facilities and projects meet applicable codes, standards, and governmental requirements Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration or related field, plus five years of experience in property management and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that would provide the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills. Preferred Qualifications Certified Property Manager designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management is desirable at time of appointment. Possession of a valid Nebraska Real Estate Broker's License is desirable at time of appointment.
