Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Lab Facilities Specialist for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Engineering. The Lab Facilities Specialist will oversee day-to-day undergraduate laboratory operations. This position reports directly to the ECE Department Chair. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Advises Department Chairman and Faculty in the areas of laboratory procedures Works with Rutgers Planner / Estimators to define a scope of work, obtain quotes, and keep tabs on work progress Trains TAs and undergraduates as needed in the proper operation of the lab/use of equipment. Formulates operating instructions providing clear indications of correct, safe operation of equipment and components, and provides accessibility of experimental apparatus to students daily. Ensures and enforces REHS safety training and safe lab practices Completes space surveys and equipment audit reports Maintains parts and supplies inventory. Maintains security of capital equipment. Assists faculty in coordinating departmental exhibits for Laboratory tours, Rutgers Day, and Engineering Open House FLSA Exempt Grade 05 Salary Details Minimum Salary 68278.480 Mid Range Salary 84393.980 Maximum Salary 100509.480 Offer Information The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. Two (2) years of professional industry experience in electrical/electronic design functions. Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent communication skills. Computer literacy. Ability to multitask, prioritize and perform multiple and varied tasks in a fast-paced service-focused environment and adapt to shifting priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive etc.). Preferred Qualifications Two to three years of professional industry experience in electrical/electronic design functions. Knowledge of RUMarketplace, Archibus, and RUSurplus Request System. Equipment Utilized Electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/state/network analyzers. Knowledge of Tektronix and Keysight test software, LaTex, PyTorch, Python, and Matlab. Physical Demands and Work Environment Ability to lift heavy computer and electrical engineering equipment. Special Conditions This position sometimes requires flexible working hours as events run outside of normal business hours and out of office hours setting.
