Job Description

Position Summary The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of all buildings and grounds. This role requires strong hands-on skills, including electrical expertise, to ensure that all systems are functioning efficiently and safely. The Facilities Manager plays a key role in creating a well-maintained, secure, and welcoming environment. Key Responsibilities - Facilities & Maintenance Management Oversee the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of all buildings, classrooms, offices, and outdoor spaces Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules Coordinate and supervise custodial staff and external vendors Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve issues promptly Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies Reports Daily to the Head of School Electrical (Primary Skill Area) Perform electrical maintenance and minor installations (lighting, outlets, breakers, fixtures) Troubleshoot electrical issues and ensure timely resolution Ensure compliance with local electrical codes and safety standards Coordinate with licensed electricians for major repairs or upgrades Maintain and monitor electrical systems, panels, and emergency lighting Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA and local safety regulations Maintain fire safety systems, alarms, and emergency preparedness plans Conduct routine safety drills and inspections Respond quickly to facility emergencies (power outages, leaks, etc.) Grounds & Exterior Maintenance Oversee landscaping, snow removal, and parking lot maintenance Ensure outdoor areas are safe, clean, and well-maintained Project & Vendor Management Manage facility improvement projects (renovations, upgrades) Obtain quotes and manage relationships with contractors and service providers Monitor project timelines and budgets General Duties Maintain maintenance logs and documentation Be available for occasional evenings or weekends for emergencies Support school/events setup and breakdown as needed Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred) Proven experience in facilities management or building maintenance Demonstrated electrical experience (required) Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and general repair work Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical diagrams Strong problem-solving and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications Licensed electrician or electrical certification (strongly preferred) Experience in a school or institutional setting OSHA certification or safety training Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and perform physical labor Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions Schedule & Compensation Full-time position On-call availability for emergencies may be required Salary commensurate with experience Noor-Ul-Iman school is a diverse learning community brought together by a mutual desire to practice and preserve core Islamic teachings within a world class educational environment.
