$61,510.13 The Office of Legislative Services (OLS) is an agency of the New Jersey Legislature established by law to provide professional, nonpartisan staff support services to the Legislature including its officers, members, committees, and commissions. OLS operates under the authority of the Legislative Services Commission, a 16-member bipartisan panel with equal representation from each House of the Legislature. The goal of OLS is to facilitate the work of the New Jersey Legislature and to enable and promote public understanding of the legislative process. As nonpartisan employees of the Legislature, OLS staff are prohibited from engaging in political activity or taking a public position with regard to any matter before the Legislature.
Description:
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Capitol Complex Security Systems Coordinator is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of security-related systems throughout the State House Complex. This position serves as the primary on-site resource for access control systems, video surveillance, door hardware, and associated low-voltage infrastructure, while coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure reliable and secure building operations. This role bridges security systems oversight with hands-on maintenance, providing timely response to issues while ensuring systems are functioning as intended.
Requirements:
Education
  • : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in facilities management, electronics, security systems, construction management, public administration, or a related field.
  • Foreign degrees and/or transcripts must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service such as the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services and Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc.
at applicant's expense. Please attach copy of transcript and evaluation with application. Candidates will not be considered for the position if they fail to provide all requested documents upon initial submittal.
Experience:
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience involving building operations, security systems, facilities maintenance, access control systems, low-voltage infrastructure, or related technical support functions.
Preferred Experience:
Experience working in a multi-building or campus-style environment. Familiarity with security systems in government or institutional settings. Relevant technical certifications related to access control systems, CCTV/surveillance systems, low-voltage wiring, locksmithing/door hardware, OSHA training, fire alarm systems, or equivalent technical certifications preferred.
Substitution:
Applicants without a Bachelor's degree must have seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience involving building operations, security systems, facilities maintenance, access control systems, low-voltage infrastructure, or related technical support functions. Demonstrated hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience involving security systems, building operations, or related facilities maintenance functions.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Ability to work a standard forty (40) hour work week, with additional hours as operationally necessary. Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and materials in excess of 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and access equipment in ceilings, mechanical spaces, and secured areas. Availability to respond to after-hours or emergency service calls, as needed to support building operations. Possession of a valid New Jersey driver's license
Background Check:
Newly hired employees will be subject to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.
Residency Law:
Pursuant to the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Office of Legislative Services, unless exempted by the law, shall have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. New Jersey State employees hired prior to September 1, 2011 who transfer from another State of New Jersey appointing authority without a break in service greater than seven days, but who reside outside the State of New Jersey are not required to change their principal residence to New Jersey in order to comply with the Act.
Authorization to work:
Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States according to the department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Regulations. The Office of Legislative Services does not provide sponsorship for citizenship to the United States.
Pay Transparency:
The salary for this position is $61,510.13.
