Job Description

Position Summary
HIGHLIGHTS
The SUNY Geneseo Facilities Department is looking for a reliable and dedicated individual to join their Building & Grounds crew. As a Facility Operations Assistant 1 (Grounds), you will perform a variety of routine manual tasks requiring medium to heavy physical effort to assist in the maintenance and repair of buildings, roads, offices, furniture, facilities, and campus landscape associated with grounds tasks. Your primary responsibility will be completing activities as part of a work crew to perform upkeep for the campus grounds and landscaping. You will be responsible for operating various tools including forklifts, pallet jacks, power tools, dollies, hand trucks, mowers, weed eaters, and tractors. This position requires the ability to work shifts and weekends, based on a 40-hour workweek, plus scheduled and unscheduled overtime when necessary. You may be working outdoors in inclement weather. Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
There are no education or experience qualifications for this class. Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications
DEPARTMENT OPERATING NEEDS
Possession of a satisfactory time and attendance record Possession of Initial Certification in Pesticide application (ornamental and turf). If not already in possession, will need to achieve within one year of hire and work progressively towards becoming a fully certified applicator. Ability to apply knowledge of methods, materials, tools, equipment, safety standards, and procedures as they relate to the job duties.
