Job Description

Hospicare is seeking a proactive and skilled Building and Grounds Coordinator to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of our facility and grounds. The role of the Building and Grounds Coordinator at Hospicare is pivotal in ensuring the safety, comfort, and accessibility of all patients, staff, and visitors. The Building and Grounds Coordinator is directly involved in the management and beautification of Hospicare's buildings and gardens and will work in conjunction with the Building and Grounds Assistant. The ideal candidate will manage vendor relationships, ensure code compliance, perform routine and as-needed repairs, and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
    Maintenance & Operations:
    Plan and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems; perform a variety of routine and seasonal, building, custodial, and groundskeeping tasks.
      Vendor Management:
      Coordinate with external contractors, monitor contract compliance, and verify invoices.
        Safety & Compliance:
        Conduct and oversee routine facility inspections to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, with a special focus on
        NFPA 101
        Life Safety Code regulations; update Emergency Operations Manual information; and maintain current Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
          Budgeting & Inventory:
          Manage inventory of supplies and equipment and assist with capital budget creation.
            Work Orders:
            Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies.
            Qualifications:
            • 2+ years experience in facility maintenance, custodial services, and groundskeeping, or an Associate's degree in a related field.
            • Knowledge of building trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical) (required).
            • Proficiency in safety regulations and building codes (required).
            • Understanding of safety procedures and building codes (required).
            • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and problem-solving skills (required).
            • Proficiency with computers and associated software for scheduling, ordering, and facility monitoring (e.g., Excel, Word, Microsoft 365, and computerized management systems CMMS) (preferred).
            • Proficiency in managing vendors and contractors.
            • Basic technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, and plumbing).
            Work Environment:
            • Must have valid driver's license and own vehicle.
            • Occasional schedule flexibility for emergencies and/or assisting with after-hours events.
            • Must be able to drive to Hospicare's Cortland office as needed.
            • Must be able to support the agency's mission and follow all health requirements and HIPAA guidelines.
            Pay:
            From $27.00 per hour
