Telework:
This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.Job Summary:
The Director of Facility Management is responsible for managing the 24/7 operations and maintenance of one or more MTA Bridges and Tunnels (B&T) facilities. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Facility Management, the incumbent ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of facilities while minimizing impacts to customers. Key responsibilities include managing daily operations, implementing traffic management strategies that promote the efficient movement of vehicles while maintaining a high level of customer service. The Director directs and coordinates responses to emergencies and incidents, implementing effective mitigation measures to protect employees and customers while ensuring the rapid restoration of normal operations. The Director also manages the maintenance of facility assets—including roadways, structures, buildings, and vehicles—ensuring they remain in a state of good repair and compliant with all safety and operational standards. The role emphasizes minimizing customer disruptions while maintaining the highest levels of safety, service quality, and operational reliability. The Director provides leadership and guidance to facility staff, ensuring alignment with MTA B&T policies, strategic objectives, and regulatory requirements. This role supervises represented, non-represented, and contract employees, exercising moderate decision-making authority. In collaboration with the Assistant Vice President of Facility Management, the Director contributes strategic input on staffing, budgeting, operations, and maintenance initiatives—with a focus on safety, security, and customer service. Additional responsibilities include, managing represented operations and maintenance staff, including oversight of time and leave, scheduling, and training. Allocating personnel and other resources to support traffic management, emergency management, law enforcement, revenue recovery, facility maintenance, and employee and customer safety. The role also provide direction on initiatives that improve faculty performance and employee effectiveness, ensuring the efficient use of resources to achieve organizational goals and objectives. The Director coordinates and interacts with multiple internal departments, including Facility Management, the Operations Command Center (OCC), Central Maintenance, the Special Operations Division (SOD), Construction & Development (C&D), ITS Tolling, the Training Department, the Central Control Unit (CCU), and the Central Operations Notification Unit (CONU), as well as external agencies, to support safe and efficient facility operations. The Director may be required to work varying schedules.Bridges South:

Manage the 24/7 operations and maintenance staff of one or more facilities, with the fundamental goal of ensuring safe, secure, and efficient travel corridors for customers. Flexible work hours- requiring working PM and midnight tours .
Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Engineering, Transportation, Systems, Technology, Project Management, Facility Management, Fleet Management, or Asset Management. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in facility management, transportation operations, infrastructure, or a related field . Minimum 5 years in a management or supervisory role in a large, multi-faceted organization. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and document management software. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders. Proven ability to perform effectively in a high-profile, high-pressure environment. Strong team building , listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills. On-site availability required during emergencies, including active participation in crisis response efforts. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require. Ability to travel to TBTA facilities and respond during emergencies . Unrestricted driver's license in New York State.Preferred:
Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships. Ability to successfully interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Specialized knowledge of facility operations, maintenance, revenue protection, and safety policies and procedures. Proficiency in software applications including Visio, Power BI, Kronos, and PeopleSoft.Additional Information:

Final salary is determined experience, skillset, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.
