South Maintenance-JM Facilities Student Assistant Job Summary:
We are looking for enthusiastic and eager-to-learn students to join our team as a Facilities Student Assistant. This position offers a unique opportunity to shadow and work alongside experienced professionals in various skilled trades, including landscape, renovation, restoration, facility maintenance, HVAC, and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will gain hands-on experience and valuable insights into these trades while contributing to the maintenance and improvement of our campus.
Key Responsibilities:
Shadow skilled trades professionals in renovation, restoration, facility maintenance, HVAC, and mechanical systems. Assist with tasks such as painting, carpentry, general repairs, and maintenance. Support HVAC system maintenance and troubleshooting under the guidance of experienced technicians. Aid in mechanical system inspections and repairs. Learn and apply safety protocols and guidelines in all tasks. Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective project completion.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled at Ft. Hayes Vocational school through Columbus City Schools Interest in learning about various skilled trades and facility maintenance. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Willingness to learn and take on new challenges. Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.

Hands-on experience and exposure to various skilled trades. Opportunity to work with and learn from experienced professionals. Students will need to provide all applicable minor work permit paperwork including parental permission. Students need to be able to provide their own transportation.

Compensation The pay rate for this position is $16.00 an hour.
