Director of Nursing (SUD Facility) Serenity Valley Happy Valley, OR Job Details Full-time $110,000 - $125,000 a year 3 days ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Direct patient care RN License RN experience Substance abuse Healthcare team management Working with individuals with mental health conditions Medication management Working with individuals with substance use disorders Full Job Description Overview We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead nursing operations within a Withdrawal Management and Residential SUD program licensed by the Oregon Health Authority. This role is critical to ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality care delivery for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This is not an entry-level leadership role; we are only considering candidates with direct experience in SUD treatment settings, including medication-assisted treatment and detox protocols. Key Responsibilities Provide clinical nursing oversight for detox and residential services Ensure compliance with OHA regulations and all applicable standards Oversee Medication management systems and controls Oversee Detox protocols (CIWA, COWS, etc.) Oversee Nursing documentation and chart audits Oversee, supervise, and develop nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, Med Techs) Maintain safe medication storage, administration, and reconciliation practices Partner with the Medical Director and Clinical Leadership on patient care Lead incident review and follow-up Lead Infection control processes Lead nursing-related QA/PI initiatives Ensure staffing levels meet acuity and regulatory requirements Required Qualifications Active RN license in Oregon Minimum 3-5+ years nursing leadership experience Direct experience in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment Direct experience in Co-occurring mental health populations Direct experience in Withdrawal Management / Detox settings Strong working knowledge of Medication-Assisted Treatment (e.g., buprenorphine and naltrexone) Strong working knowledge of safe medication management and controlled substance practices Experience implementing and maintaining best practices in medication administration, storage, and auditing Strongly Preferred Experience in an OHA-licensed program or similar regulatory environment Familiarity with OAR regulations Experience preparing for or leading state surveys or accreditation reviews (CARF) What We Are Looking For A leader who understands detox is high-risk medicine Someone who: Holds staff accountable, builds strong systems (not just "puts out fires"), is detail-oriented with medication safety and compliance, and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, startup environment
