Educational assistance program Overview The Facilities Associate will perform general maintenance services and repairs across a 250,000 sq ft corporate office environment and the surrounding exterior grounds using technical skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and HVAC systems. Responsibilities
Conduct routine walk-throughs and inspections of all facilities to ensure optimal conditions, organization, and professional aesthetics. Identify and report any safety discrepancies or repair needs to Supervisor
Perform daily inspections of external campus via small engine vehicle transportation to ensure curb appeal meets AM Best's seasonal standards; report safety discrepancies and/or repair requirements to Supervisor, (e.g. clearing of trees, lawns, plants, shrubs, debris, correct exterior damage, etc)
Execute a variety of physical tasks, including moving office furniture, managing trash disposal, lifting items over 50lbs., custodial duties, and maintenance tasks that may require ladders, scaffolding, or chemical agents
Serve as a subject matter expert in the maintenance of corporate vehicles, overseeing tasks such as car washes, oil changes, refueling, and thorough interior and exterior inspections. Report mileage discrepancies to the Supervisor
Assist maintenance staff in liaising with various departments through multiple communication channels (email, Teams, text, help-desk ticket system, and phone) to ensure exceptional customer service and timely/accurate communication
Ensure below-grade level and maintenance managed basement compartments are kept clean and organized
Perform seasonal snow removal responsibilities including shoveling/clearing off snow from sidewalks/staircases and applying snow melt treatments
Maintain accountability and inventory for assigned tools and equipment
Perform other facilities related duties as periodically assigned by department management group
Apprenticeship Responsibilities:
Assist the Supervisor, Corporate Facilities Services and Sr. Facilities Mechanic Technician in a variety of tasks, including carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, installations, organization, repairs, and reporting
Provide support to Sr. Facilities Mechanic Technician troubleshooting basic non-licensed plumbing problems; (eg. clogged toilets, flushometers), and non-licensed electrical problems, (eg. replacement of fuses, bulbs, ballasts, and/or switches)
Help diagnose issues with defective equipment, furniture, and machinery. Conduct online research for necessary parts and submit procurement requests to the supervisor for approval
Collaborate with maintenance staff to assess and address maintenance needs for small engine equipment, including ATVs, tractors, Gators, Polaris vehicles, and cargo vans
Aid Assist maintenance staff in coordinating repair and installation schedules with third-party service providers Qualifications
High School Diploma required. Related Degree from a Technical School or Accredited College is preferred
Minimum 1 year experience and/or comparable coursework experience achieved from technical academia
Professional certifications in Facilities and/or Building Management a plus
Knowledge of basic mechanical skills Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, (e.g Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Maintain a polished, groomed appearance and professional disposition
Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
Meets physical requirements for role including but not limited to: stooping, standing, walking, pulling, climbing, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more
Maintain a discipline and willingness to do what needs to be done with a desire to grow and take on ever increasing responsibility
Valid driver's license with a responsible driving record
Ability to safely operate small power tools, equipment, and small engine vehicles, (gator, Polaris, snowplow, drills, saws, forklift, etc)
Wear required AM Best maintenance apparel and always present a professional image and attitude with AM Best team members, contractors, and third-party providers
Emergency Rotation - Regularly available on nights and weekends for emergency service requests
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
During the emergency service request, time and a half will be paid for hours worked. A flat hourly travel rate for unusually long distances (in excess of 90 miles) to and from the office will be considered for the emergency call
