Job Description

THE POSITION
Are you a highly organized, safety-focused professional looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented role where you can apply your expertise and experience? As a Facility Safety Manager with the Department of Corrections, you play a key role in keeping the institution safe and functioning smoothly. You help lead fire, safety, and environmental programs that support everyone at the State Correctional Institution at Somerset. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position oversees major safety, fire prevention, and environmental programs across the institution while ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with standards. As a Facility Safety Manager, you will perform the following duties:
Safety Oversight:
Manage daily fire, safety, and environmental programs for the institution
Inspection Management:
Complete and submit required safety inspections and reports on schedule
Drill Coordination:
Plan and conduct fire drills and maintain related records
Training Delivery:
Provide safety and environmental training for staff and inmates
Program Administration:
Maintain Right-To-Know materials, water system logs, and hazard control programs
Incident Review:
Investigate accidents and fires and recommend ways to prevent future occurrences Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,345.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of professional experience in an organized accident prevention, fire prevention, environmental safety, or security program, and a bachelor's degree; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
