JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Wilkes-Barre is accepting applications for a Part-Time Staff Assistant for Recreation and Facilities.
The Part-Time Staff Assistant for Recreation & Facilities supports the daily operations of the Athletics and Recreation Building (ARB) and assists the Coordinator of Facilities, Recreation & Intramurals. This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-managed facility environment while supporting recreation programming, student engagement efforts, and operational needs during a period of campus transition.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor the Athletics and Recreation Building during assigned shifts to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all users
Provide front-line customer service, including managing check-in procedures and ensuring appropriate facility access
Assist with opening and/or closing procedures, including securing the facility and ensuring compliance with operational protocols
Support the Coordinator with daily operations, including facility scheduling, program setup, fiscal management, and general administrative tasks
Assist with intramural and recreational programming, including event setup, supervision, and breakdown
Help enforce facility policies and report any safety concerns, incidents, or policy violations
Assist with equipment inventory, tracking, and basic maintenance needs
Support basic fiscal processes, such as pay invoices, reconcile purchasing card charges, identify and track expenses
Assist with transition-related efforts associated with campus closure, including inventory management, equipment organization, and operational adjustments
Perform other duties as assigned to support recreation and facility operations
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal ground Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal ground Check.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
