License Leading team collaboration initiatives Medical License Medical management Clinical team leadership Full Job Description Psychiatrist Medical Director - Substance Use Disorder & Mental Health Programs Dayton, Ohio We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and collaborative Psychiatrist Medical Director to join our Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Mental Health programs in Dayton, Ohio. This leadership role is ideal for a psychiatrist who is passionate about providing high-quality psychiatric care while supporting an interdisciplinary treatment team within residential behavioral health settings. The Psychiatrist Medical Director will provide clinical oversight and psychiatric services for adult patients in both SUD and mental health programming, including weekly onsite visits, medication management oversight, treatment planning collaboration, and supervision/collaboration with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
Responsibilities:
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments for residential behavioral health patients Diagnose and treat mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders through evidence-based psychiatric care Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications as clinically appropriate Provide one onsite visit per week to the facility Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), therapists, nursing staff, and clinical leadership Provide physician collaboration and supervision as required by Ohio regulations and facility policy Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and clinical case reviews Review documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical best practices Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry Active Ohio medical license in good standing DEA license required Experience in residential behavioral health, substance use treatment, detoxification, or acute psychiatric settings preferred Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills Passion for patient-centered behavioral health treatment and team development
