  • Full-time Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Manager
  • Fleet & Facilities with "hands-on" experience to oversee and maintain a diverse fleet of over 50 pieces of equipment, including heavy flatbed trucks, specialized construction machinery used in guardrail installation and removal, as well as our light fleet.
This includes coordinating routine maintenance and service and ensuring proper billing, insurance, and tax compliance. This role is critical to ensure the operational readiness, safety, and efficiency of our fleet across multiple job sites. This position requires clear and consistent written and verbal communication with internal and external resources, and a high degree of organization, documentation, and accuracy. Additionally, it demands significant accessibility, accountability, and coordination to ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely manner, and information is up to date and readily available to Management and other appropriate stakeholders. Finally, the role warrants a collaborative approach to build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, vendors and all members of the Company. Responsibilities Fleet Oversight & Maintenance
  • Manage the health and performance of over 50 pieces of construction and transportation equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Respond to and manage equipment breakdowns, ensuring timely repairs and service.
  • Oversee third party mechanics' work including evaluation and verification of all work performed.
  • Evaluate equipment condition and make recommendations for repair, refurbishment, or replacement. Technical Diagnostics & Support
  • Utilize diesel mechanic expertise to diagnose mechanical issues across a wide range of equipment.
  • Collaborate with service providers and field crews to identify root causes of equipment failures.
  • Provide hands-on support when necessary to expedite repairs and ensure quality service. Communication & Coordination
  • Maintain real-time communication with Project Managers and Yard Team regarding:
  • Equipment availability, current service status and estimated return-to-service timelines.
  • Upcoming equipment downtime or decommissioning.
  • Fleet assignments to field crews for daily work.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of fleet status to support project planning and execution.
  • Verify billing from third-party vendors.
  • Ensure vehicles have current registration, inspection and insurance.
  • Manage facility contractors and ensure appropriate upkeep of property.
  • Professional communication with service providers, internal customers, and across company businesses. Leadership & Team Collaboration
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Train and mentor staff on equipment handling, maintenance protocols, and safety standards.
  • Wear appropriate work clothes, including boots and required PPE, to maintain a professional appearance while clearly supporting a hands-on, actively engaged approach. Qualifications
  • Five to ten years' experience as a Fleet Manager or Diesel Mechanic, preferably in a construction or transportation environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and experience managing a team or small maintenance facility.
  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills across heavy and light-duty vehicles and construction equipment.
  • Familiarity with service coordination and vendor management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and full suite of O365 products is required.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and data entry skills, attention to detail and high degree of accuracy are essential.
  • Ability to research and resolve issues related to accounting transactions.
  • Integrity, discretion, and respect for confidential information are necessary.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
  • Office-based work requiring significant periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Regular engagement with vehicles in outdoor or shop settings requiring adequate mobility, lifting and appropriate attire.
