Job Description

Goal:
To manage the upkeep of The Haven's shelter, outbuildings, shelter grounds, and agency vehicle to ensure a trauma-informed environment and protect related assets.
Qualifications:
A qualified candidate for this role will: Be able to perform basic maintenance tasks and lift up to 20 pounds. Have basic computer knowledge. Demonstrate good organizational skills. Be willing and able to interact with a diverse population in a culturally relevant and respectful manner. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Understand the importance of confidentiality and maintain it for all program participants. Hold a valid Virginia driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Daily Maintenance:
Perform basic daily maintenance tasks, including: Trash removal, wiping counters and equipment, sweeping floors, and other small tasks in shared spaces such as the kitchen, dining room, laundry room, and sanctuary room. Complete small repairs, such as replacing light bulbs, air filters, and smoke detector batteries. 2.
Facility and Grounds:
Coordinate professional services for: Cleaning, lawn maintenance, snow removal, and other shelter upkeep needs. Arrange for necessary repairs and maintenance of shelter buildings and equipment, including: Scheduling services, managing service logistics, and obtaining estimates when required. Ensure compliance with fire and safety requirements at all times, including: Routine maintenance and inspections of fire and safety equipment. 3.
Supplies and Donations:
Oversee shelter supplies and in-kind donations by: Notifying point-of-contact staff when supplies are low. Picking up donations from the administrative office or other locations, as needed. Sorting, labeling, and stocking donations.
Maintain the pantry by:
Removing expired items; Ordering items as funding allows; Trauma-informed organization. Organize storage buildings on the shelter property. 4.
Agency Vehicle Maintenance:
Schedule and coordinate necessary maintenance for the agency vehicle. Ensure the vehicle is fueled and ready for use. 5.
Administrative and Training Responsibilities:
Participate in staff meetings. Complete a minimum of 20 hours of in-service or job-related training annually. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or on-call staff.
Pay:
From $17.00 per hour People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
