Job Description

Job Description The School of Art + Art History + Design has an outstanding opportunity for Program Support Supervisor 2 to join their team. About this Opportunity Reporting to the School Director, the Facilities and Studio Safety Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of facility operations, safety, and security across three building sites for the School of Art + Art History + Design. They will also ensure that all faculty, staff, and students have and maintain training to use the studios and equipment contained therein. The Facilities and Studio Safety Supervisor will supervise a staff of eight Instructional Technicians and is instrumental in creating an environment that allows people with a wide range of skill sets and experience to safely use the equipment across three distinct facilities. This position will also ensure safety and building functionality is maintained and coordinated with UW Facilities (the Art Building and the Ceramics and Metal Arts Building) and the property manager at Sand Point. Key Responsibilities Facilities Management (45%) Oversee facilities maintenance and liaison with appropriate units such as UW Facilities Services and property managers. Receive, coordinate, and process all facility and maintenance requests. This includes custodial services and recycling requests, as well as requests for repair of standard locks, doors, electrical, plumbing, windows, heating and cooling systems. Coordinate building shutdowns for routine maintenance. Contact building occupants and schedule events to minimize impact on instructional and research activities. Manage building access and security including: Monitor building for suspicious activity and serve as a liaison to UWPD. Manage and monitor alarms systems. Serve as a first point of contact for after-hours alarm notifications, emergency facilities and safety situations.
Attend to administrative duties including:
Manage collection, storage and documentation of surplus property, prepare items for pick-up by UW Surplus and Moving Services. Manage annual/quarterly locker checkout and locker maintenance. Develop, oversee and manage event/exhibition processes and policies. Approve all events forms, installation requests and flex space forms. Initiate building hours modifications. Ensure events serving alcohol are compliant with UW, state and federal guidelines. Other duties as assigned Management of Schoolwide Safety Initiatives (30%) Serve on appropriate School and University Committee(s) related to health and safety. Serve as Chair of the School's Safety Committee. Ensure compliance with UW, state and federal regulations related to equipment and materials used in art studios and shops. Oversee development of comprehensive training materials for all studios and shops, ensuring timely completion of training. Plan and execute graduate student and new employee safety orientations and training. Manage the development of manuals and SOPs for all labs, studios and shops, ensuring timely updates in an open and public facing resource. Manage all lab safety, shop safety and fire/life safety inspections and follow up with corrections. Monitor the Environmental Health and Safety Lab Safety Dashboard, stay current with any changes in the lab safety program and proactively address schoolwide and studio specific safety issues. Address recurring issues with EHS, Facilities, and Technicians. Other Duties as assigned. Supervisorial Duties (25%) Supervise and oversee work assignments for Instructional Technicians Ensure employees have proper safety and discipline/media-specific training Hire new employees as necessary and facilitate appropriate onboarding Conduct performance evaluations and engage in performance management, as necessary. Manage studio instructional support in the case of vacation or sick leave absence. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. Minimum Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent AND three years of applicable experience in Art, Design, Facilities management or related field(s) OR equivalent education and experience. Ability to work with a diverse constituency. Demonstrates respect and commitment to diversity. Ability to work successfully in a team environment, as well as independently. Strong interpersonal skills, including effective written and oral communication. Ability to problem solve, be detail oriented, take initiative, anticipate needs, and exercise good judgment. Ability to perform successfully in a high-volume setting with changing priorities and multiple deadlines. Working Conditions Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must hold a valid driver's license. May need to respond to alarm events during non-standard hours.

$54,732.00 annual
