JOB SUMMARY
The Agriculture & Equine Facilities Assistant Manager is a full-time benefited position that works to ensure all horses and livestock that are boarded on campus receive appropriate care. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing feeding schedules, overseeing daily operations in the barn, cleaning livestock facilities, assisting with budgeting and tracking feed and supply inventory. The Assistant Manager may also be asked to assist with events and activities held at the facility. This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs and work outside in all weather.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge Equine Care:
Understanding of horse health, nutrition, and basic veterinary care.Barn Management:
Knowledge of barn operations, including feeding schedules, cleaning procedures, and facility maintenance.Safety Regulations:
Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to working with horses and livestock.Equipment Operation:
Ability to operate and maintain common barn equipment such as tractors, mowers, and fencing tools.Emergency Response:
Knowledge of emergency procedures and first aid for horses and livestock. Skills Attention toDetail:
Keen observation skills to detect signs of illness or injury in horses and ensure proper care.Communication:
Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, students, and veterinarians.Leadership:
Ability to supervise and train student barn staff, providing guidance and direction as needed.Problem-Solving:
Skill in identifying and resolving issues related to horse care, facility maintenance, and staffing.Organization:
Strong organizational skills to manage feeding schedules, medical records, and facility maintenance tasks.Teamwork:
Collaborative mindset to work effectively with faculty, campus maintenance staff, and other barn staff to support a positive team environment.Time Management:
Efficiently prioritize tasks and manage time to ensure daily operations run smoothly. Abilities Ability to work well independently. Ability to learn from others. Ability to work with students and colleagues Ability to use technology to complete processes and track data such as Microsoft office, email, and other specific barn management applications. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting hay bales, cleaning facilities, and handling livestock. Ability to adjust to changing schedules, weather conditions, and unexpected situations. Ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, and visitors, providing assistance and answering questions about barn operations and horse care.PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor An employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments.NOTE:

Associate degree from an accredited institution in Animal Science/Equine Science or a related field of study Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record as required by the College's insurance provider Prior livestock/equine handling experience- In lieu of the required degree, candidates with equivalent professional experience, industry certifications, or a combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.

Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture or a related field Equipment Operation Skills Management experience Animal health and nutrition experience If you are selected for the position, your appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
