Job Title:
Forklift Operator Job Description This role involves operating a sit-down forklift in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment to support production by moving materials, palletizing products, and assisting with general labor tasks as needed. You will work on either a 12-hour day shift or night shift, Monday through Saturday as required, in a non-climate-controlled facility where conditions can be dusty, dirty, and hot. Responsibilities Operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently throughout the shift. Support the production line by moving material off the line and transporting it to designated areas. Reset palletizers and assist with wrapping pallets to prepare them for storage or shipment. Stack bags of mulch, soil, and dirt onto pallets and ensure loads are secure. Double or triple stack pallets and assess pallet stack stability before placing them into storage. Assist machine operators with material preparation, clearing machine jams, and handling finished materials. Perform heavy lifting as needed to support production and material handling activities. Participate in palletizing, packaging, picking, loading, unloading, shipping, and receiving tasks. Carry out general labor duties such as packing and production support when not operating the forklift. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safety-first approach at all times. Demonstrate consistent performance to meet expectations during 30-, 60-, and 90-day evaluations. Essential Skills Proven sit-down forklift operating experience. Experience with material handling in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work safely in an outdoor or non-climate-controlled environment. Strong safety-first attitude and commitment to following safety protocols. Reliable work history with stable tenure and minimal job hopping. Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and be coachable. Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks for the duration of a 12-hour shift. Ability to work 12-hour shifts (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for day shift or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for night shift), Monday through Saturday as needed. Capability to pass a forklift test/evaluation that includes starting the forklift, picking up a pallet, and returning it safely. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous manufacturing experience as a production worker, assembler, or machine operator is a strong plus. Experience in palletizing and handling heavy loads. Experience with general labor tasks such as picking, packing, and production support. Exposure to both sit-down and stand-up forklift operations is beneficial. Comfort working in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing setting rather than a warehouse environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment rather than a traditional warehouse. The facility is non-climate-controlled, and conditions can be dusty, dirty, and hot for the entire 12-hour shift. Work is performed on either day shift (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) or night shift (6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.), Monday through Saturday as needed. You will regularly operate a sit-down forklift and work around palletizers, production lines, and heavy materials such as mulch, soil, and dirt. Personal protective equipment is provided, and employees must wear steel-toed or safety boots as part of the required attire. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
