WORKSITE LOCATION IS 1223 NW 128 TH AVE OKEECHOBEE FL THE WORKSITE ADDRESS IS THE SAME AS THE EMPLOYERS ADDRESS AND IS THE ONLY WORKSITE . WORK HOURS ARE MONDAY

am to 5 pm. Salary $15.00 PER HOUR TO $18.00 PERHOUR DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.
Position Requirements:
FORKLIFT OPERATOR/LABORER POSITION
- Safely drive, maneuver, and maintain a
FORKLIFT
with a minimum of six months farm work experience. Experience with loading semis is helpful but not required- Employees may work up to six days a week depending on peak season.
- Follow and uphold JW Turf Farms Drug Free Workplace Policies and Procedures.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.
- Operate tractors, trucks, and other equipment to prepare and tend to sod fields
- Plant, maintain, and harvest sod crops according to established procedures
- Inspect and repair irrigation systems, as needed, to ensure proper hydration
- Prepare fields for planting by clearing debris and rocks, leveling the ground, and applying fertilizers and other soil amendments
- Monitor sod fields for signs of disease, pests, or other problems and take corrective actions as necessary
- Operate machinery and equipment to cut, roll, and stack sod for shipment
- Assist with loading and unloading sod shipments and transporting them to customer locations
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Be able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stretch and squat for long periods of time.
- Be able to physically withstand up to 11-hour days year-round, with farm conditions including but not limited to summer heat, rain, mud, extreme dust during dry/drought periods, limited shade conditions during some work tasks, thorns, pests, etc.
- Position may require building and repairing of pallets, fence lines, etc...
- Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Experience operating farm equipment, including tractors and mowers
- Knowledge of sod care, including irrigation and fertilization. Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy loads, up to 50 pounds
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in measuring and cutting sod
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping. Sell and deliver plants and flowers to customers.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work site
