Warehouse Lead/Forklift Operator

Neill Cartage, which is a full-service distribution company located in a near western Chicago suburb, has an immediate opening for a forklift operator. The primary function of is to unload / load inbound and outbound trucks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Unloads or loads freight as directed, mainly utilizing roll clamps and/or forklifts, employing proper safety precautions. Involves both trucks and rail cars. Stores and picks freight orders, breaks down freight for distribution as required. Handles cartons weighing 50#, pulling and pushing from one pallet to another. Handles empty pallets as required. Follows and completes documentation as necessary (including manifests and damage reports). Operate forklift (roll clamp preferred) and other equipment as necessary to perform duties. Maintains basic fluid levels and performs a daily vehicle inspection. Organizes warehouse and performs general clean-up. Operates motorized sweeper as directed. Performs other responsibilities as required.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Sound judgment, initiative and professional communication skills must be exhibited at all times when dealing with the partner carriers and customer service associates. 2. Warehouse or dock experience preferred. 3. Knowledge of equipment operation and safety procedures desirable.
