Forklift Operator Job Description This role involves safely operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment to load and unload vehicles, move and store materials, and support daily warehouse operations. You will handle order picking, shipping and receiving activities, inventory tasks, and assist with ingredient pulling and blending platform setup in a food production environment across multiple shifts. Responsibilities Operate sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks to safely load and unload vehicles and move stock throughout the warehouse. Ensure all products are properly coded, labeled, and stored in the correct locations. Pull customer and production orders accurately and assist with warehouse stock placement. Perform regular inventory counts and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock records. Complete shipping and receiving paperwork and logs accurately and in a timely manner. Conduct monthly inventory independently, ensuring thorough and accurate reporting. Assist with ingredient pulling and setup of the blending platform as needed for production. Use RF scanners to pick, load, and track orders and inventory. Support general material handling tasks, including packaging, palletizing, loading, and unloading. Follow all safety procedures and best practices when operating forklifts and warehouse equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in compliance with food environment standards. Essential Skills Proficiency in operating sit-down forklifts in a warehouse environment. Experience using pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment for material handling. Ability to perform order picking, loading, unloading, and general labor tasks. Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including completing paperwork and logs. Ability to use RF scanners for inventory management and order picking. Capability to perform inventory counts, cycle counts, and monthly inventory independently. Strong multitasking skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Attention to detail to ensure accurate coding, labeling, and storage of products. Comfort working in a food environment with associated cleanliness and handling standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a material handler in a warehouse or distribution environment. Experience in packaging, palletizing, and order picking operations. CDL experience or exposure to transportation and loading processes is a plus. Familiarity with stand-up forklifts and other types of powered industrial trucks. Ability to adapt to different shifts and changing operational needs. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $27.00/hr.
