Job Description

Rayonier is seeking applicants to fill a Kiln Forklift Operator position at the Gwinn Lumber Mill. The Kiln Forklift Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the kiln forklifts to control and manage green lumber from the mill, through the kiln, and back to the mill. Typically, 40 hours per week, Monday-Thursday. When mandatory overtime is scheduled, the schedule is 50 hours, Monday-Friday. Mandatory overtime is scheduled approximately one Friday per month and is communicated in advance. Shifts rotate every two weeks from days to nights. Day Shift is 7am-5:30pm. Night Shift is 6:30pm-5am. Shift differential is $1.50 more per hour, for hours worked between 5:30pm-9am. The hourly rate of pay for this position is $‎29.6799 Production & Quality Stages and positions green output bundles in the yard for smooth and efficient Kiln input. Stages and positions kiln dried bundles to remove crossers (4"x4"x8') and place on tilt-hoist in-feed chain for planer production. Retrieves stacked product from the stacker output, positions crossers to stack bundles of lumber in three layers and repositions for kiln input. Maintains lumber yard organization and corrects improperly stacked bundles. Builds kiln charges according to the kiln operator instructions. Pick up loose and dropped boards from all shift operations at the end of each shift. Performs quality assurance checks and charge identification. Monitors and facilitates proper maintenance and functionality of the kiln forklifts. Completes related paperwork. Transports lumber safely regardless of yard conditions. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Safety & Environmental Operates all equipment in a safe manner and maintains a clean work area. Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations. Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S. High School Diploma or GED required. A good attendance, work, and safety record. Basic understanding of computers and window-based programs. Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. Some experience operating a forklift. Able to lift 50 lbs., repetitive lifting Must be capable of working in hot, dusty, cold wet, dirty, confined working environment on occasion. Must be able to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
