Job Title:
Forklift Operator and Material Handler Job Description We are seeking a skilled forklift operator and material handler who is comfortable working the third shift initially and then transitioning to the second shift in May. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing finished goods for shipping, moving raw materials, and ensuring that inventory processes run smoothly. Responsibilities Prepare finished goods for outbound shipping and load shipments into the correct container truck. Unload inbound shipments and locate materials in the proper storage and warehouse area. Prepare necessary paperwork and attach it to shipments to document and expedite order fulfillment. Move raw materials and finished parts to and from the production cell and into the staging area or warehouse for storage. Operate electric-powered lift trucks and maintain a safe driving record. Inspect lift trucks for compliance with safety and standard operating capabilities. Follow written start-up procedures for operating electric-powered lift trucks. Respond to requests to locate, count, and report physical inventory quantities. Operate a sit-down forklift for 90-95% of the shift. Load approximately 10-14 trucks a day. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of recent sit-down forklift experience. Experience stocking the line with raw goods. At least 8 months of tenure in a similar role. Experience in a manufacturing facility. Additional Skills & Qualifications Possession of a Hilo license is a plus. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment includes both loud areas and quieter warehouse sections. While the setting is not the cleanest, you will be working with a team of five others, fostering a collaborative atmosphere. The regular shift is third shift from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, with some overtime required, typically maintaining a 40-hour workweek. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
