Job Description

Position Summary The Forklift Loader is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient loading of building materials, including lumber and millwork products, onto flatbed trailers for delivery. This role requires operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to stage, secure and position loads in accordance with safety standards, load integrity requirements and delivery schedules. . The Forklift Loader plays a critical role in supporting warehouse and transportation operations by ensuring materials are properly handled to prevent damage, loads are balanced and secured for transit, and all shipments meet company quality and safety expectations. Attention to detail, adherence to company safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. . Schedule Monday - Friday 5 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Pay $19/hr. (bi-weekly pay) Overtime and Saturday work on occasion based on business demands . Essential Responsibilities Operates a forklift to move product and pallets throughout warehouse to an area safely. Communicates any discrepancies, product issues or safety issues with Supervisor. Ensures that product is moved and scanned using a radio frequency scanner to the correct location and confirm product labels are accurate. Maintains a clean and safe area free and clear of any debris. Anticipates the needs of the business, keeping like product together and accessible. Successfully passes all Novo forklift training and operate a forklift following all safety requirements established within Novo. May place standup items into designated area by hand as required. Basic Qualifications (Required) Must be 18 years of age or older. Must possess a valid driver's license Flexibility in scheduling - able to work overtime as needed Effectively perform all essential functions, including physical requirements Ability to move awkward product lengths and weight. Experience with operating a forklift with rate rating of 6,500 pounds. Use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and company approved tools while remaining aware of hazards and maintaining a safe work environment. Basic math, interpersonal/team, and reasoning skills Ability to read, understand and carry out written procedures and standard work instructions. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in distribution or manufacturing environment. Experience operating a forklift primarily with product weights of 2500 lbs. or more. Prior experience lifting wide loads, as long as 18 feet. Minimum one year experience operating a forklift. High School Diploma or GED Travel Requirements No travel requirements. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Able to withstand exposure to seasonal weather elements and wood dust. 100%: Stand, handle or feel, squeeze or grasp. 80%: Reaching with hands and arms, depth perception. 50%: Walk, repetitive motion, operate moving equipment. 10%: Working bent at the waist, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, bending or twisting. Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. without assistance. Lift, push, or pull 75-100 lbs. with assistance.
