Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator/Material Handler to join our dynamic warehouse team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently managing the movement, storage, and handling of materials within the warehouse environment. Your expertise in operating various types of heavy equipment and your knowledge of warehouse management systems will be essential to maintaining smooth distribution operations. Duties Safely operate forklifts, including reach trucks, clamp trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, and pallet jacks, to load and unload shipments with precision. Perform order picking using various equipment such as pickers and order picker machines to fulfill customer orders accurately. Manage inventory by organizing stock within the warehouse, utilizing warehouse management systems for tracking and documentation. Assist in shipping and receiving processes by verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to OSHA safety standards. Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on heavy equipment to ensure operational safety and efficiency. Support warehouse distribution activities by coordinating with supervisors on materials movement and storage strategies. Handle heavy lifting tasks safely, adhering to all safety protocols related to OSHA regulations. Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize space utilization and improve workflow processes. Maintain accurate records of materials handled, equipment used, and tasks completed for accountability and reporting purposes. Skills Proven experience operating forklifts such as reach trucks, clamp trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, and pallet jacks within a warehouse setting. Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory control and order processing. Familiarity with warehouse distribution procedures, shipping & receiving protocols, and materials handling techniques. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs and troubleshoot operational issues. Experience with order picking using various types of equipment including pickers. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and warehouse safety practices. Ability to perform basic math calculations necessary for inventory counts, measurements, and weight assessments. Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills. Effective communication skills for coordinating tasks across teams and ensuring safety compliance. Prior experience in warehouse supervision or management is a plus but not mandatory. This role is vital in ensuring the seamless flow of materials within our facility while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
