Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience operating forklifts in warehouse and distribution center environments.

POSITION SUMMARY

Operate (electric or propane) forklift in and between buildings, yard areas, or production areas around people. Forklift driving can be for IQF processing lines, crate wash, general cleanup, and/or shipping and receiving area. This position has direct responsibility for food safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Receiving Area:

Receive and assist in unloading large containers or stacks of containers from truck to receiving area. Assist truck drivers by providing direction while backing their loads up to the receiving area. Move product to cool rooms as product is received.

Production Area:

Feed product to lines in designated work areas to ensure continued workflow. Move, stack, and/or transport product safely among several designated work areas. Assist supervisor/line leads in monitoring product flow and operating equipment.

All Drivers:

Conduct daily forklift safety inspection of designated forklift. Keep area clean, this includes, clearing floor of garbage, cardboard, pieces of pallet, product, etc. Assist the Shift Supervisor in a variety of other jobs when not driving the lift truck. Must practice good safety skills and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Complete all training for OSHA compliance, Hazmat and MSDS requirements and regulations (i.e. Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection/Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Ammonia Control, Hot Work, Emergency Response and Evacuation, etc.). Additional duties to be performed as instructed by the supervisor.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Required minimum of 2 years of previous, verifiable forklift driving experience. Experience working in production or manufacturing environment preferred. Experience and knowledge of forklift daily safety inspections and ability to follow forklift safety rules. Must pass in-house forklift training program. Work assignment is based on skill of driver as observed by supervisory staff. Ability to follow direction from supervisors and work well with others. Must be willing to perform other work duties when forklift driving positions are not available. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a safe and orderly fashion. Must be able to get up and off the forklift to wrap or help stack pallets. Must pass drug test.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position typically spends about 100% of the time in a production environment. The majority of the time spent performing the duties of this job will be operating an electric or propane forklift. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and to use hands to finger, handle or feel and see objects in a productive environment. Also be able to get on and off the forklift several times in a shift. Must have good manual dexterity skills. The employee performing this job must be able to sit, stand, bend, pull, kneel, squat frequently and have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to 75 lbs. Employee must be able to work 8-12 hours per day, 5-7 days a week.

RESUMEN DEL PUESTO

: Operar montacargas (eléctricos o de propano) dentro y entre edificios, patios o áreas de producción con personal. El manejo de montacargas puede ser para líneas de procesamiento IQF, lavado de cajas, limpieza general o áreas de envío y recepción. Este puesto tiene la responsabilidad directa de la seguridad alimentaria.

FUNCIONES ESENCIALES

: Área de Recepción: Recibir y asistir en la descarga de contenedores grandes o pilas de contenedores del camión al área de recepción. Asistir a los conductores de camiones brindándoles orientación mientras retroceden sus cargas hasta el área de recepción. Transferir el producto a cámaras frigoríficas a medida que se recibe. Área de Producción: Alimentar el producto a las líneas en las áreas de trabajo designadas para garantizar un flujo de trabajo continuo. Mover, apilar y/o transportar el producto de forma segura entre las diferentes áreas de trabajo designadas. Asistir al supervisor/líder de línea en la supervisión del flujo de producto y la operación del equipo.

Todos los conductores:

Realizar la inspección diaria de seguridad del montacargas designado. Mantener el área limpia, lo que incluye retirar basura, cartón, palés, producto, etc. del suelo. Asistir al supervisor de turno en diversas tareas cuando no esté conduciendo el montacargas. Deben practicar buenas prácticas de seguridad y las Buenas Prácticas de Manufactura (BPM). Completar toda la capacitación sobre cumplimiento de OSHA, materiales peligrosos y requisitos y regulaciones de MSDS (p. ej., bloqueo/etiquetado, protección contra caídas/espacios confinados, protección respiratoria, control de amoníaco, trabajo en caliente, respuesta a emergencias y evacuación, etc.). Tareas adicionales que se realizarán según las instrucciones del supervisor.

REQUISITOS DEL PUESTO

: Se requiere un mínimo de 2 años de experiencia previa y verificable en la conducción de montacargas. Se valora la experiencia en entornos de producción o fabricación. Experiencia y conocimiento en las inspecciones diarias de seguridad de montacargas y capacidad para seguir las normas de seguridad. Debe aprobar el programa interno de capacitación en montacargas. La asignación de trabajo se basa en la habilidad del conductor, según la observación del personal de supervisión. Capacidad para seguir las instrucciones de los supervisores y trabajar bien en equipo. Debe estar dispuesto a realizar otras tareas laborales cuando no haya puestos disponibles para conducir montacargas. Capacidad para trabajar en un entorno dinámico de forma segura y ordenada. Debe poder levantarse y bajarse del montacargas para envolver o ayudar a apilar palés. Debe aprobar la prueba de drogas.
