Job Title:
Forklift Operator / Shipping Associate Job Description This role combines forklift operation, material handling, and shipping responsibilities within a manufacturing warehouse that supports powered scaffolding equipment and accessories. You will work independently to pick, pack, and ship orders accurately and on time, while safely operating a forklift in tight spaces and handling heavy materials. The position requires strong basic math skills, the ability to think on your feet, and a commitment to reliability, safety, and clear communication as part of a small, close-knit team. Responsibilities Receive raw materials into the warehouse, verify quantities, and ensure accurate documentation. Ship final products and parts, including preparing, crating, and packaging items to support powered scaffolding equipment and accessories. Operate a forklift safely and efficiently in tight spaces, both inside and outside the warehouse, for approximately 50% of the workday. Handle materials manually for approximately 50% of the workday, including lifting items up to 75 pounds, bending, reaching, and moving parts as needed. Issue materials to packing and production areas in a timely manner to support manufacturing operations. Assist with monthly and yearly inventory counts, ensuring accurate stock levels and proper organization of materials. Work as a floater and replenisher, moving between shipping, warehouse, forklift operation, packaging, and inventory tasks based on daily needs. Use basic computer systems to support shipping, inventory, and material handling activities. Communicate clearly and consistently with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and resolve issues. Maintain high attendance and punctuality, including starting between approximately 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. and being available for overtime as required. Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including hard hat, safety glasses, and safety shoes. Keep work areas, bench stations, and warehouse aisles organized and free of hazards to support safe forklift and foot traffic. Essential Skills Proven forklift operation experience, including strong driving skills in tight spaces and around moving trucks and equipment. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds independently and perform frequent bending, reaching, and moving of parts throughout the day. Basic math skills, including counting and simple calculations, to ensure accurate order fulfillment and inventory handling. Ability to think independently, solve problems on the spot, and make sound decisions while working with minimal supervision. Experience working in shipping, warehousing, material handling, or a similar environment. Comfort working in a manufacturing environment that supports scaffolding and wind turbine equipment, including operating in tight spaces. Willingness and availability to work overtime as needed. Reliable attendance and punctuality, with the ability to start the workday between approximately 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Commitment to safety and consistent use of required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, and safety shoes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working as a floater or replenisher, moving between different functional areas such as shipping, warehouse, packaging, and inventory. Familiarity with basic computer use to support shipping and inventory tasks. Previous experience in a manufacturing warehouse environment, particularly involving powered scaffolding equipment or wind turbine-related products. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing warehouse that supports scaffolding and wind turbine-related equipment. You will work on a small team of approximately 5-6 people in a tight warehouse where forklifts and trucks move both inside and outside the facility. The environment includes bench stations with tools and parts, and you will frequently lift up to 75 pounds, bend, reach, and move materials throughout the day. The warehouse is not insulated and is not brightly lit, so temperatures and lighting conditions may vary. You will operate forklifts regularly and use basic computer systems to support shipping and inventory tasks. The standard start time is between approximately 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., and overtime is required when business needs demand it. Personal protective equipment is mandatory for the full shift, including a hard hat, safety glasses, and safety shoes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tukwila, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
