Job Title:
Forklift Operator Job Description The Forklift Operator safely operates sit-down forklifts and clamp trucks to move, load, and organize materials while supporting shipping, inventory, and press department needs. This role scans and builds truckloads, verifies packing and weight information, and ensures accurate fulfillment of paper and mail-related orders in a clean, climate-controlled production environment. Responsibilities Operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently to move skids, cartons, and materials throughout the facility. Use RF scanners to scan skids, track inventory, and build accurate truckloads. Confirm packing slip information and ensure all outbound loads match documentation and system records. Understand and follow established processes for EDDM (Every Door Direct Mail) orders and related post office reports. Sort, wrap, and label skids and cartons using information from job tickets and the system. Verify the weight of completed jobs and ensure they meet specified requirements before shipment. Safely operate forklift and clamp trucks to handle various types of loads and materials. Fulfill paper requests from the press department accurately and in a timely manner. Assist with picking, packing, shipping, and general labor tasks as needed to support daily operations. Occasionally drive a straight truck to Madison, WI to drop off mail, following all safety and transportation guidelines. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards. Follow all safety procedures and company policies while operating equipment and performing daily tasks. Essential Skills 6 months to 1 year or more of recent sit-down forklift operating experience. Proven ability to operate sit-down forklifts safely in a production, warehouse, or shipping environment. Experience with material handling, including moving, staging, and organizing skids and cartons. Ability to use RF scanners for scanning, tracking, and verifying inventory and shipments. Experience with picking, packing, shipping, and general labor tasks in a warehouse or production setting. Capability to operate clamp trucks or willingness to learn clamp truck operation safely. Ability to read and follow job tickets, packing slips, and system-generated instructions accurately. Valid driver qualification and ability to occasionally drive a straight truck to off-site locations as required. Strong attention to detail when verifying packing information, labels, and job weights. Ability to follow established processes for EDDM orders and related documentation after training. The team is relatively small, with about 20 people per shift, fostering a laid-back and collaborative atmosphere. Overtime is available on a voluntary basis and is not mandated. Work involves operating sit-down forklifts and clamp trucks, using RF scanners, handling skids and cartons, and occasionally driving a straight truck to Madison, WI to deliver mail. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Edgerton, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $37440.00
