Associate General Manager, Development Florida Gulf Coast University United States, Florida, Fort Myers 10501 FGCU Boulevard South (Show on map) May 19, 2026 Job Summary WGCU's Associate General Manager of Development manages a team of professional fundraisers and has a personal portfolio for the solicitation, retention, and recognition of Individual Gifts in our major donor group for those who give in excess of $2,500 annually, branded as the Leadership Circle. This role builds and implements strategy to meet financial and stewardship goals for the Annual Fund, Planned and Major Individual Gifts, and Campaign Funds. Plans and conducts special events aimed at fundraising and/or donor development. The Associate General Manager is a critical member of the WGCU senior leadership team that collaborates to reach objectives set by the General Manager and Florida Gulf Coast University. WGCU is Southwest Florida's source for PBS and NPR. A member-supported service of Florida Gulf Coast University, WGCU provides educational programming that inspires, informs and engages our community. Serving all or part of 12 counties in south and Southwest Florida, with five distinct digital TV channels, two FM radio channels, two HD radio channels, and multiple websites, WGCU delivers national and international programming, and develops, produces and delivers relevant, informative and educational local programs to the region. Job Description Typical duties include but are not limited to: Develops fundraising strategies, goals, and objectives for WGCU, including prospect identification and management. Leads WGCU's Development Team, including Directors of Development, mid-level giving through a coordinated effort with membership, and administration support. Manages a portfolio of donors and prospects. Plans and develops innovative strategies for portfolio growth. Allocates department goals across the team, evaluates and improves performance. Joins WGCU Development staff on critical meetings with high profile donors. Attends community events to build and maintain the reputation of WGCU. Oversees the design of fundraising campaigns and communication plans with donors and prospective donors using television, radio, print, direct mail, digital, and social media channels. A liaison to the WGCU Advisory Council. Collaborates to set the agenda and identify priorities. Develops and implements a lead management system for identifying, evaluating, and managing prospects and current donors from the membership base. Segments members at lower donation levels with higher capacity. Develops and executes a plan to track campaign results. Oversees the collection and distribution of a weekly departmental revenue report. Participates in the development and coordination of special events and programs for WGCU donors and prospects.

Additional Job Description Required Qualifications:
This position requires either eleven years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and seven years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions. Experience with Campaign fundraising. Demonstrated success identifying new funding donor sources. Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook). Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization. Managerial experience within a university-licensed public broadcasting join licensee. Fundraising experience in a public broadcasting setting. Experience and proficiency with Raiser's Edge, Allegiance or similar fundraising applications.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proven ability to think strategically and approach challenges with creativity. Demonstrated track record of reliability, meeting goals, and holding oneself accountable. Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively across teams. Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, finance and management principles, practices and procedures. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects. Ability to influence at the most senior levels of an organization and work across functions, levels, and departments toward shared objectives. Ability to collaborate and work effectively within the community and willing to contribute to a team effort. Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and competing demands are involved. Ability to use effective decision making and problem solving techniques. Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times. Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgement in the establishment, interpretation, application, and enforcement of all rules, regulations, and policies. Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing information, guidance, and motivation.
