Job Description

Development Director The Salvation Army USA Central Territory United States, Missouri, Columbia Jun 08, 2026 The Salvation Army Columbia corps located in Columbia, Missouri, is searching for a candidate with a strong background in fund-raising to join their team as the new Development Director. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of prospect research, solicitations, major gifts, and grant/proposal writing. This is a full-time salaried position with an excellent benefits' package. Starting pay is $65,000.00 a year. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: Manage a fundraising program that includes direct mail, events, sponsorship and grant development, donor cultivation and stewardship, and special campaigns Act as a liaison to the Advisory Board Development Committee and assist Corps Officers in engaging Advisory Board members using best practices provided by divisional headquarters. Attend weekly Midland Development Department meetings and share best practices virtually or in-person and monthly meetings with other Corps Development Directors. Review progress toward achieving development goals with the Corps Office and Divisional Executive Director of Development. Collaborate with Divisional Donor Relations Directors and Gift and Estate Planning Directors on an ongoing cultivation and stewardship plan utilizing moves management for assigned major and planned gifts donors.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years' work-related experience. Combination of training and experience will be considered. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a working knowledge of computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, database and e-mail. Must be a team player, self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with minimum supervision. Ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure, especially during the Christmas Campaign. Able to work additional hours as needed (i.e. during the Christmas campaign.) Must pass TSA MVR check, have a valid driver's license, and have reliable transportation. The full job description will be shared with candidates who are selected for an interview.
