Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Director of Development & Community Engagement to lead our organization's fundraising initiatives and foster meaningful relationships within the community. This vital role combines strategic planning, innovative outreach, and relationship management to advance our mission and ensure sustainable growth. The ideal candidate will be an energetic leader with a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, and community engagement, ready to inspire teams and cultivate partnerships that make a lasting impact. Duties Fundraising & Revenue Development Develop and execute annual fundraising plans and revenue goals Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors Build major gift, recurring donor, and planned giving programs Oversee annual campaigns, fundraising events, and special initiatives Develop sponsorship opportunities for programs and events Research grant opportunities and funding sources Manage grant proposal reporting Maintain relationships with foundation and institutional funders Corporate & Community Partnerships Develop partnerships with businesses, veteran organizations, and community leaders Secure sponsorships and in-kind donations Expand relationships with healthcare, wellness, agricultural, and veteran-serving organizations Donor Stewardship & Communications Create donor engagement strategies and impact reporting Maintain donor database and tracking systems Collaborate on storytelling, newsletters, social media, and outreach efforts Ensure donors understand the impact of their support Strategic Leadership Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors Support board fundraising activities and donor cultivation Develop fundraising metrics and track progress toward goals Help build long-term financial sustainability strategies Skills 3+ years experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, sales, or relationship management preferred Proven ability to build relationships and secure financial support Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience with grant report management preferred Organized, self-directed, and mission-driven Passion for supporting Veterans and rural communities Proficiency in digital marketing tools such as Constant Contact, Mailchimp, WordPress, and social media management platforms. Excellent negotiation skills for securing sponsorships, partnerships, and funding agreements. Ability to develop strategic plans aligned with organizational mission and growth objectives. Experience in public relations tactics that enhance community visibility and stakeholder engagement. Familiarity with budgeting processes within nonprofit settings to ensure financial sustainability. Background in research related to fundraising trends, nonprofit management best practices, or estate planning legalities such as wills and trusts. Proven success in volunteer management programs that foster community involvement and support organizational initiatives.
