Job Description
Overview The Development Coordinator works as part of a small, efficient team to strengthen Vermont Humanities' community fundraising and donor stewardship efforts. The person in this position participates in day-to-day development activities including gift processing and acknowledgement, data integrity and collection, and project management tasks aligned with the creation of fundraising appeals, publications, and weekly eblasts. In addition, the Development Coordinator will serve as administrative support to board committee chairs and officers. This position requires meticulous organizational skills and reports to the Director of Development & Communications. Responsibilities Development Fulfill all gift processing and acknowledgements including mailed and online donations Generate and mail acknowledgement letters and tax receipts Produce and update contact lists for fundraising solicitations and publications including two annual appeals, two print newsletters, and the Annual Report Assist in the organization and timely delivery of print and online fundraising efforts Serve as administrative support between staff and the board of directors including the scheduling and preparing of quarterly meetings and retreats and other duties as needed Receive and process program fee payments Assist with donor relations and fulfillment Data Management Manage FileMaker database, including entry and maintenance of gifts and website mailing list sign-ups Ensure development data is recorded regularly and accurately Coordinate with Programs team for data integrity and optimization Key Skills Demonstrate practical knowledge of donor management and accounts receivable procedures. Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Customer Relationship Management systems. Maintain a high level of accuracy and dependability and handle sensitive donor information with discretion and integrity. Continually prioritize and undertake the multiple, diverse activities of data management, solution implementation, and evaluation, adhering to workflow timelines. Maintain competency in meeting diversity, equity, inclusion, and access goals in administrative processes. Respond to routine and special assignments with flexibility and a willingness to meet project goals and organizational needs. Display exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Employ effective written and oral communication skills. Qualifications Relevant experience in CRM data management and donation processing. Donor and fundraising experience are preferred. Excellent organizational, writing, and speaking skills required. Experience with Mailchimp and Stripe is preferred. Ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Experience in and commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive environment. Demonstrated interest in the humanities and commitment to Vermont Humanities' work and mission. Patience and flexibility with a sense of humor. Bachelor's degree or equivalent lived experience required. Travel This position requires limited travel for events and board retreats. Flex Scheduling/Remote Opportunities Fifteen hours per week are required at our office in Montpelier. The remaining hours can be completed remotely or in our office.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May be called upon to supervise one or more part-time interns. Physical Requirements This position includes very occasionally lifting boxes of up to 30 lbs.
