About Us:
The Alliance for Women's Health & Prevention is a 501(c)4 non-profit women's health advocacy organization working to ensure that all women and girls have access to high-quality preventive careservices. Our mission is to advance policy that drives equitable access to care to ultimately improve the lives and health of all women and girls.
Position Overview:
AWHP is seeking a motivated and experienced Development Director to join our team. This is ideal for a seasoned professional who excels in fundraising strategy, relationship cultivation and management, lead execution, and navigating the corporate healthcare landscape, especially health, preventive health, and women's health, including biopharma, health insurance plans, and consumer brands. The Development Director will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable funding streams to support AWHP's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy:
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals, with a focus on securing contributions from corporations, foundations, and individual donors.
Corporate Partnerships and Roundtable:
Cultivate relationships with corporate stakeholders, particularly within the healthcare sector, to secure sponsorships, donations, and partnerships that align with women's preventative health advocacy. Manage and grow AWHP's corporate roundtable program, which currently includes 8 active members.
Grant Management:
Identify, write, and manage grant applications and reports to secure additional funding.
Donor Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, ensuring regular communication and stewardship.
Health Policy Insight:
Leverage understanding of healthcare policy and its impact on women to craft compelling cases for support that resonate with potential funders.
Event Oversight:
Collaborate with the team to plan and execute fundraising events and donor appreciation activities.
Data and Reporting:
Track and analyze fundraising metrics, providing regular updates to AWHP leadership and ensuring transparency and accountability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, public health, public administration, or a related field Passion for improving women's health 5+ years of experience in development, fundraising, or related roles within the nonprofit sector. Expertise and proven results in 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(3) fundraising strategy. Proven record of securing five- and six-figure gifts from corporate and foundation. Familiarity with the corporate healthcare landscape and health policy issues impacting women's health. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including grant writing and donor correspondence. Strong relationship-building and networking skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, dynamic team. Proficiency in fundraising software and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang).
Preferred Skills:
Experience with health advocacy campaigns or policy-focused fundraising with 501(c)(4) and/or 501(c)(3) entities. Involvement in engaging corporate advisory councils and securing corporate memberships. Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles as they relate to women's health. Event planning and management experience.
