Door of Hope, a Christian nonprofit serving families facing homelessness, is seeking a Donor Database Manager in this mission-critical work. The Donor Database Manager is a member of the Development Team, serving as the organization's primary steward of donor data and the strategic backbone of our fundraising operations. This role goes beyond database administration—it translates donor data into actionable insights that shape giving strategy, inform donor engagement, and strengthen campaign performance. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer and all members of the department, the Donor Database Manager brings both technical expertise and a data-driven mindset to help Door of Hope deepen relationships with donors and advance our mission. Hours 40 hours/week, occasional overtime Occasional evenings and weekends, especially during the holidays, as needed 4 days in-office in Pasadena, Fridays work from home Responsibilities Database Strategy & Administration Serve as primary Salesforce Administrator, owning database architecture, security administration, and platform optimization Maintain the highest standard of data integrity across all constituent records—contact information, giving history, activity updates, and relationships Design and implement data entry policies, workflows, and best practices for Development Team staff Process monetary donations and manage the full gift acknowledgment cycle, including timely receipt letters and thank-you process Manage year-end tax reporting and matching gift processing Oversee donor segmentation for mass mail and email campaigns at a detailed level Communicate with Accounting Manager on a regular basis; produce monthly reconciliation reports and manage year-end financial reporting Data Analysis & Fundraising Strategy Build and maintain dashboards and reports that surface giving trends, retention rates, lapsed donors, and campaign performance Translate data analysis into strategic recommendations for donor cultivation, major gift identification, and campaign design Leverage iWave and other prospect research tools to identify, analyze, and prioritize prospective donors Track the organization's various campaigns and appeals, monitoring performance against goals and providing regular updates to leadership Generate ad hoc reports and data pulls as needed to support major gifts, grant writing, board reporting, and other departments Systems & Cross-Departmental Collaboration Serve as the internal expert and resource for Salesforce; provide training and ongoing support to Development Team staff Partner with the Grant Writer to provide accurate giving histories, board member data, and campaign reporting Collaborate with Communications to support targeted donor outreach and segmented email campaigns Ensure database integration with other organizational systems (financial, communication platforms, etc.) Assist at special events and support mission-related activities as needed Requirements Qualifications A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit development, donor relations, and database management Familiarity with Salesforce preferred; Proficiency in excel Demonstrated ability to build and interpret complex queries, reports, and dashboards to inform fundraising strategy Strong analytical mindset—able to synthesize complex data and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate data clearly to non-technical colleagues and leadership Demonstrated excellence in organizational and multi-tasking skills with meticulous attention to detail Self-starter who proactively identifies opportunities to improve systems and processes
Computer Skills:
proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, Excel Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience Compensation & Benefits Expected compensation: $65,000•$76,000/year, depending on experience & qualifications Competitive benefits package including:
