Executive Director Overview:
Light Opera of New Jersey (LONJ) is a premier regional musical theater company bringing numerous genres to life including musical theater, opera and operetta. LONJ is seeking a dedicated and passionate Part-Time Director of Development to lead and manage the organization's fundraising initiatives. The Director of Development will play a key role in expanding financial support, building relationships with donors, and ensuring the sustainability of LONJ's artistic programming.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy:
Collaborate with the LONJ staff and board to develop and implement a fundraising plan to meet annual and long-term financial goals, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, grants, and special events.
Donor Relations:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring regular communication and stewardship of major gifts.
Corporate Sponsorship:
Identify and solicit local and regional businesses for sponsorship opportunities, including program ads, event sponsorship, and in-kind donations.
Special Events:
Assist with fundraising events, including donor receptions, galas, and other community outreach activities.
Qualifications:
Experience:
3+ years of fundraising, development, or related experience, preferably in the arts or nonprofit sector.
Skills:
Proven ability to cultivate donor relationships, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work creatively and independently.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with donor management databases. Knowledge of local arts and cultural landscape is a plus.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Arts Management, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field preferred. Passion for the

A strong interest in classical music, opera, and theater is essential to understanding and supporting the organization's mission.
Hours and Compensation:
Part-Time:
Depending on experience and efficiency, 10-20 hours per week, flexible schedule with occasional evenings and weekends for events.
