Job Description
St. George's Scholar Institute - Louisville, Kentucky For more than 60 years, St. George's Scholar Institute (SGSI) has stood as a steady presence in West Louisville - opening doors, strengthening academic pathways, and preparing young people to walk confidently toward college and career. We believe strong communities are built the old-fashioned way: through relationships, accountability, and opportunity. We are seeking a part-time Director of Development to help carry that mission forward. This role is for someone who understands that fundraising is not about asking, it is about building relationships and trust. It is about sitting at tables, making introductions, following through, and telling the story well. If you are organized, relationship-driven, and motivated by real impact, this position offers the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of SGSI's growth. Position Summary The Director of Development leads and executes SGSI's fundraising strategy, with a focus on individual donors, corporate partners, and community supporters. This position works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Grant Writer to strengthen annual giving, expand donor engagement, and increase long-term sustainability. Key Responsibilities Fundraising & Relationship Development
- Identify, cultivate, and steward new and existing donors
- Build meaningful, long-term relationships with individuals, businesses, and community leaders
- Support board members in donor engagement efforts
- Plan and execute donor meetings and cultivation events Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan aligned with organizational goals
- Establish measurable fundraising targets and track progress
- Prepare regular reports for leadership and board review Donor Communications & Marketing
- Oversee donor communications, including email campaigns, newsletters, and print materials
- Manage fundraising messaging across social media platforms
- Ensure consistent storytelling that highlights SGSI's programs and student success Events & Campaigns
- Coordinate annual giving campaigns and special fundraising initiatives
- Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales, development, or relationship management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
- Comfort with donor databases and digital communication tools Experience in nonprofit development is preferred, but candidates with strong relationship-building or revenue-generation backgrounds will also be considered.
