Summary:
The Membership Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Nashville PBS's base membership program, managing donors giving under $1,000 with a focus on acquisition, renewal, and retention. Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer, this role ensures exceptional full life cycle customer service while maintaining accurate donor records, processing contributions, and supporting financial reconciliation. The Membership Manager also plays a key role in prospecting and donor research, stewardship activities, and on-air fundraising drives. In addition, this position represents Nashville PBS at community events by setting up and managing the membership table to engage attendees and cultivate new supporters. Through strong database management, donor engagement, and event participation, the Membership Manager helps build lasting relationships that sustain and grow the station's mission.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain the member database (REV CRM), including data entry for gifts, pledges, EFTs, credit cards, matching gifts, and other member transactions.
  • Oversee and administer Nashville PBS's EFT and credit card installment programs, including recurring gift processing and troubleshooting.
  • Manage base membership donors giving under $1,000, including acquisition, renewal, and retention strategies to grow long-term support.
  • Conduct prospecting and donor qualification research for up to 5 hours per week, with regular reporting to support findings and inform cultivation strategies.
  • Provide daily full life cycle customer service, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional communication with members from initial contact through renewal and ongoing stewardship.
  • Manage on-air fundraising drives including daily reporting, donor uploads, and other system-related tasks; willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends during drives.
  • Prepare and distribute donor acknowledgement letters, pledge reminders, and installment statements to ensure timely and accurate stewardship.
  • Collaborate with the Development and Finance teams to reconcile fundraising income, manage deposits, and maintain accurate financial reporting related to membership contributions.
  • Serve as a department resource for database and software troubleshooting, while helping streamline systems and processes.
  • Provide regular reporting and analysis on membership trends, revenue, and retention.
  • Assist with donor relations and customer service, including timely responses to member inquiries by phone, mail, and email.
  • Support cultivation and stewardship efforts, including member events and recognition activities.
  • Set up and manage a membership table at every Nashville PBS event, serving as an on-site representative to engage attendees, answer questions, and encourage donor participation. Providing support at all Nashville PBS related events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of membership fundraising and donor stewardship, with excellent customer service and communication skills. Proficiency in database management, Microsoft Office, and donor research. Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze data, and generate reports. Skilled in event support and public engagement, with strong organizational and interpersonal abilities. Flexibility to work occasionally evenings and weekends as needed.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum two years' relevant experience, preferably in the nonprofit arena. Customer service experience, a plus.
